It will be good if we can finish higher this season , especially with the way the 3 year average works , however it shouldn't make a difference to player recruitment for 2026 , as this should be something that we are looking to do from the moment we are able to talk to out of contract players at other clubs. All our main recruitment for 2026 should , theoretically , be completed by mid-season and long before our final position is known . That said a team performing better on the pitch (in the first half of the season) and with McGuire's potential connections, would certainly help to attract new players to the club.

The Category A grading this year is the reason we will/should be able to recruit better players for 2026. MJ said in his podacst that one of the hardest things was trying to convince potential signings that we were going to be in SL in 2025 , even though we knew that we would be . I think that this will be a bigger factor in attracting new players to the club than where we finish in the league at the end of the season.

OK, in short, if we’re mid table half way through the season and we’ve continued improving our IMG score that should make 2026 recruitment easier.

If clubs are already sorting their recruitment priorities for 26 now by mid season I would have thought all the best talent will have already signed for clubs and so will any of our own players whose stock as risen from last season . The time to be proactive is now or we will be behind the 8 ball again.

Signing announced. Fills the gap in the squad left by El Zakhem but now means we need to find domestic answers to the front row questions.

Maybe Maguire and Delaney plan on us making yardage and meters from out wide on both flanks as we are bigger physically on the wings than upfront 😂.

so we now have 7 oversea players, our quota is full, where do we go for a prop forward?

If the report of Michael Carter working with the RFL in advising them about Salfords financial situation tyhen they will be selling players guaranteed. So there might be worth a look.

true & i dont wish Salford any harm, but they have been having success on money they didn't have & now they are deeper in debt yet they still sign players above their sustainability.

i doubt they will offload any players as year after year they get bailed out then continue to buy what they cant afford, the search for a prop forward continues?
