I wouldn’t mind it if we could find the next Alex Walmsley or Chris Hill from the championship…

Re: More go forward
Anyone feeling a bit worried about us bringing in a decent prop Or two
No rumours, no announcements due.
Seems to have gone quiet on that front.
I wonder if we have anyone signed up yet.

Re: More go forward
My gut feeling is that Maguire wouldn't have taken the job on unless he had been told he could strengthen the squad

Decent player but re-signed at Toulouse until 2026 earlier this season.Tigersbarmy wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 13:26 Only forward in championship that I would take us probably Lambert Belmas

Re: More go forward
I agree.
But being allowed to strengthen and players available to bring in are two different things.
I’m sure he’s been told he can bring players in, them players have to be out there and able to do a job for us.
Are them players out there, that’s my worry.
Re: More go forward
Yes I'm sure he did things seem to have happened quickly with Jepson taking over and getting an A licence for SL with a new coach we will have to see how many more players we are able to bring in to strengthen the team

Re: More go forward
Me too, but very unlikely. If we are serious as a club that we want to strengthen the squad it has to be based now on some proven quality props, not project players or mediocre championship material.
Re: More go forward
Can't see Bateman at Cas at all but I wouldn't complain if it came true.Tigersbarmy wrote: ↑03 Nov 2024, 11:56 I’m been told we’re still looking at middles and back rows. Only 1 quota spot but we are interested in John Bateman and west tigers willing to pay some of his wage
Dirth of props in the market so woiluld release Lawler back to the props.
Our right edge defence was shocking last something Delaney is going to need to work on, no doubt having Bateman defending from the inside would help dramatically.
Bur I'd be amazed if it had legs.
Re: More go forward
with this 10 yard rule , you need some size up front a thing we are sadly lacking but then again size is not every thing big Will Vete and Kibula they had size but no engine

Re: More go forward
I’ve never known our pack be as poor as it is.
There’s not one prop I go right he’s our best prop and he must start. There’s a massive shortage of props too, and Rimbu might turn out to be a good signing but can’t help think we should have used that spot on 2 quota props.

Massive shortage of props but you’d save quota spots for two props….who and where from given said shortage?

Re: More go forward
There is a massive shortage of props in both sides of the world. Hence why if anyone is half decent over here and they’ve got good size the big boys come and snap them up straight away and take a punt on them. There’s still plenty of options out in oz a lot more than here for us to recruit 2 props.
Re: More go forward
I don't get the general negativity on here sometimes we announced last week the signing of a starting nrl half back and a hooker who was sought after by nrl clubs we've already signed a centre who hopefully with Sam Wood will make us strong in that position yes we need a couple of forwards but I'm optimistic about the direction the club is moving in now

Can have best backs in world mate mate but if you haven’t got the pack to carry you downfield it’s pointless
