When I heard CL had been sacked I thought it was a harsh call and the only rationale for it would be that Jepson wanted a big name coach to help attract investors. DM isn’t that so it makes no sense to me.

I guess time will tell but a promotion is always a gamble - if Delaney runs every session and Peters never sets foot on the grass, same with Mags. The move to being entirely accountable end to end is always a tough one.
I would like to assume that if this decision has been made, then as others have said; there must have been some diligence in the back end to make the call.

That applies to a lot of things in life, but for all the failures there must be a lot of successes because everyone has to step up from somewhere
No, I totally agree, without that progression there would be no good leaders; just being part of something excellent where you "feel" like you're doing all the work is different to being end to end accountable.
We're close to getting in to the Leadership/Management debate! Either way, I hope we go on!

I now expect a coaching announcement within the next 24 hours. Then we will start announcing the signings.

I hope this is just a assistant coaching appointment next to Mcguire and not the fore runner to him becoming Head coach

Definately not a good appointment if true......sack a decent coach with experience and replace with one with no experience .

We are not Warrington!!!

Agree here. If correctly rumoured didn’t DM not want the head coach role 12 months ago, what has then changed and I don’t think he is a change of voice in the changing rooms as MJ said. If MJ wants to create a winning environment like he said, why wouldn’t DM have already have done that within the last 12 months he’s been here. Bit confused. I’m for CL but to be replaced with an experienced coach.

I think DM said he didn't feel he was ready for a head coach role 12 months ago . Maybe now he feels that he is

My thoughts exactly, only thing i can think of is DM was offered it last year n said he wasn't quite ready so CL was brought in. DM may have now said he's ready to take on the challenge.

I would still prefer a proven coach who can attract decent players and get them all playing for him.

For me Jepson trying to make the club more professional and maybe investors thought Lingard was a bit of a joker or clown.
He Strikes me as a soft touch with the players running riot at times.
McGuire maybe is more professional. And comes across better to businessmen And investors.

I'd still prefer CL and his idiosyncrasies than the prospect of rookie DM.

I think given how important keeping the crowds up, raising our finishing position will be to next years score I just think its a mistake if we go for DM

Now if MJ is thinking get in tony smith for couple of years and have DM and BD as assistants, i could go for that , i think he would have enough time to set the correct culture at the club and build a platform for the future

I agree mate I remember the two games in the summer against the two best teams in the league we went toe to toe with them what Lingard achieved with what he had was a great effort and I get Maguire may be a more attractive proposition to attract players or new investors but that dosnt change the fact Lingard is a good coach who can consider himself unlucky to be out of work

I read it as tongue in cheek to be fair, I don't think Lingard came in for anything like the flack thrown at others rightly so (Radders and Last!), he was working in parameters of a squad with little money in an organisation where clearly there was disruption in leadership, other than teasing, I don't think anyone has anything but thanks?

He had his style and approach I don't think anyone was on his back.

I've no dog in this fight and not picking a squabble, just didn't read it as mean.

Anyone a LinkedIn user - he has posted very eloquently and caringly about the situation.
Should go up in everyone's estimations for that.
