New Head Coach - Who?

Post by StevieTheTV » 21 Oct 2024, 13:11

So now its been confirmed the CL has left the club, who will the new Head Coach be?

Edit: https://castlefordtigers.com/article.php?id=9075

My shout (If not DMags) would be Ian Watson, we are closer to what Salford were than Huddersfield.

By all accounts, McGuire to take charge in a bid to keep him from going to Leeds under Brad Arthur. He's been vocal in wanting the head coach role and was willing to go to Leeds, serve under Arthur for 2 years, with the view to taking the job when BA leaves. Looks like Cas have nipped that in bud quickly.

Genuinely liked Lingard. Decent bloke, decent work ethic and seemed like he really cared for the club. Whatever for him next, just glad he got the chance to coach in Super League. His work at Batley deserved him that shot.

That said, hope what I've been told is wrong as I don't believe McGuire is quite ready yet. IMO needs a good season or 2 under a well established coach.

I would like to think that this is confirmation of our Super League place next season . We will have received all other club's scores today and so we will now know whether we are in or not . I think that had we not been in SL next season then we would have probably kept Lingard .

Well that’s not going to happen. He hasn’t coached for years

Who would we possibly get though if not DM and I agree about DM not being ready.

Perfect man for the job?

Ability to attract players from both UK and Aus?

Burgess had a great 1 st season with Warrington with very little experience

I have my reservations regarding Maguire for the reasons given above regarding Leeds.

If he was willing to go to Leeds as understudy to take over from Brad Arthur in 2 years , how committed is he going to be to Cas in the long term .

Reading between the lines, Danny Mags feels he's ready for an head coaching job and is willing to go wherever that be. He's a popular guy down the club and the club probably feel they'd rather lose Lingard, than Magz, possibly.

Ian Watsons name is also being banded about now, naturally, but I wouldn't touch the bloke. Had all the money at Huddersfield and underperformed massively.

Wow guess Jepson isn't messing around lol and ideally I'd want a coach with decent super league experience but if decides to go cheap route again and promote Maguire then it can't be much worse so why not

What makes you think McGuire would be cheap?

If he wanted cheap pretty sure he would of stuck with Lingard

Also Jepson said on sky sports he wants a new voice in the dressing room so why promote Danny when he's been there all season and played his part in the dross that we got

For the first time in a very long time I think it will be the right man for the job not the budget.
