Re: Nine Gone
Liam Byrne off to Salford I’m led to believe
Re: Nine Gone
Was always likely to stay that side of the penines. Do wonder how Salford fund some of there signings though.
Re: Nine Gone
Leon Ruan is leaving the Rhinos, he’dbe a handy pick up. 21 years old, big lad, prop or second row. Would be an upgrade on Luis Johnson for sure and bags of potential to improve further.

Re: Nine Gone
the way Salford are once again splashing the cash i can only see trouble ahead for them 3/4 thousand gates shared stadium can hardly support their outgoings i should think
Re: Nine Gone
Sky did a survey off all clubs spend Salford were well down the list only spending a estimated 1.7 million of the 2.1 million if that's correct theve done a tremendous job getting the results they have and playing an attractive style of rugby

Re: Nine Gone
It used to be that Koukash bank rolled Salford, but since he went they don’t seem to have problems attracting (and paying) decent players.
It prompts the question, how do they do it with crowds of 3-4k?
The cynical amongst us might suspect their declared salary cap spending may not be accurate!

Re: Nine Gone
Its a level playing field as the exemptions are available to all who wish to use them. Clubs like us, Salford etc shouldn't be holding the likes of Wigan back, if they have the money to spend that is.

Knew we were over a million down on full cap.old cas lass wrote: ↑07 Oct 2024, 19:38No idea M.Mysterio wrote: ↑07 Oct 2024, 19:21 We need two great props and 2 great back rowers imo; a good centre…
All good quality at least anyway.
Expect the 9 going frees up around 600k on the cap, and we’re already under the cap by another 500k at the very least, more like 1m?
So I’d expect us to have circa £750k available to use in my very rough estimation. If you don’t agree, how much do you think we’ll make available?
That’s 1 or 2 excellent signings and another 5 or 6 good ones…
We all know the clubs way, on the cheap.
I’m not expecting to much but hoping for the best.
Make that 1.6m to spend. If we could afford it or WANTED to.
Realistically reckon we’ve got a war chest right now…

Re: Nine Gone
i look at their squad a good number will be on high wages they must have their eyes on expenditure away from playing and support staff maybe we should be doing the same with the number of staff we employ are the paid ones earning their corn ?
Re: Nine Gone
Does anyone think If you added £700,000 to our spend this year do you think we would have got anywhere near 2nd or GF like HKR.heritage1926 wrote: ↑08 Oct 2024, 11:03Estimated spending for 2024.

I’d imaging that buys you a quality half, 2 decent props and a squad player.
Personally not so sure with that we’d have been anywhere close to competing for anything different than what or where we have finished this year, maybe would have achieved 7-8. I still think big changes are needed going into 25/26.

Why over £ 1 M down ? Isn't the salary cap £2.1 MMysterio wrote: ↑08 Oct 2024, 12:00Knew we were over a million down on full cap.old cas lass wrote: ↑07 Oct 2024, 19:38No idea M.Mysterio wrote: ↑07 Oct 2024, 19:21 We need two great props and 2 great back rowers imo; a good centre…

Re: Nine Gone
Salford have the luxury of being able to sign Wigan's, saints and Warrington's off contract unwanted players just by their location. Successful players, just not quite good enough for whatever reason at the 3 successful teams. This will always benefit Salford, been seen every season for years.
We have the 2 hull teams, Huddersfield and Leeds to pick their unwanted players and with competition from big spending Wakey, it’s slim pickings. Add in we’re not an attractive prospect for players due to all the negativity around the club and the img upheaval. Will take some time and luck to turn it around.

Looks like it's £3m to me, including marquee. Otherwise the clubs spending that or near that amount would be relegated or points docked
