Re: Linked to parramatta Center.
Reason I mention Matterson is when I listen to the experts on NRL360, they say that he is on inflated wages that the Eels cannot afford and no where in Oz will he get the same money. just thought it might be an opportunity bearing in mind the family contact with the club.

If he can’t get the wages in Aus do we really think he can in Cas?
Re: Linked to parramatta Center.
And who is going to drop drop 300k + a year to Cas salaries?

Yes these guys were not household names when they arrived but they are now attracting good salaries. My point was if we are going to be spending up to or near the cap we don't have to shop in the bargain-basement. That is not knocking the centre we are looking at , if we sign him I hope he does a brilliant job for us.The Firm wrote: ↑15 Jul 2024, 17:47Masters started this season well but was utter rubbish last year, often not getting picked. Many on here would have been whinging if we’d signed him then.Sharlotiger wrote: ↑15 Jul 2024, 16:42Maybe so but look at the quality centres Salford have brought in over the past few seasons and again recruiting Masters for next year to bolster their options even further.old cas lass wrote: ↑15 Jul 2024, 14:01Either we don’t want to or rather try for second graders from oz.Sharlotiger wrote: ↑15 Jul 2024, 13:43Why is this the only type of player we can get when from next year we are supposedly going to be using Jepsons investment money to allow us to spend up to the SC again?
Likes of Salford who are working off a SC similar to ours at present bring in quality additions so why can't we?
Not saying there arnt some good second graders, but I think signing a 25yr old who plays in the NRL is pie in the sky, imo.
Likewise when Salford signed Tom Lafai he was without a club and was bricklaying for a living. And Nene MacDonald had walked out of Leeds mid-season leaving them in the lurch. Could you imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth if we’d signed either of them at that stage?
If this is our man so be it. Providing the deal is right let’s see what he can offer before writing him off.

Sometimes they don't suit the style of play of the club
We've seen many a player come and turn out to be a good un. And more than many the total opposite.

His salary is graded upwards as length of deal comes to an end hence why letting go

Re: Linked to parramatta Center.
In SL, when a contract is paid in that way, it is split equally per year, so the count on the salary cap remains the same. So, a four year contract for £500,000 would count £125,000 per season on the cap. Even if it was paid out at £100,000 for the first three years and £200,000 for the last.
I do believe that Wigan (surprise, surprise) had adopted this practise and got rid of the player as they got to the end of the contract to save paying out top dollar.
