Re: New signing, retention?
agreed Mate, not all signings work out, but i certainly like the look of this one l posted this so any one who wanted could watch the whole match
Re: New signing, retention?
I'd kind of assumed the announcement of just two players, then a pause, was a planned marketing strategy...now i think it's cos we haven't signed anyone else yet!
Re: New signing, retention?
the market of top class forwards is not overflowing the clubs who with more cash to offer at the front of the queue let us hope they have missed a diamond or two

With Horne regular at 13 I think Joe Westerman Will play at prop.
Lingard wanted to play him at prop every time but injuries forced otherwise.

We start with a club who are categorically still active in the market – and aggressively so at that, too.
Danny McGuire has inherited a squad with holes to fill but crucially, they have cap space and quota spots at their disposal, too. That means you can expect the Tigers to go back Down Under in search of more recruits on top of Zac Cini, Daejarn Asi and Judah Rimbu.
Top of their list? A powerhouse prop to spearhead their pack.

Sounds like just Hudson signed alongside those announced then.....Tigersbarmy wrote: ↑07 Nov 2024, 21:02 We start with a club who are categorically still active in the market – and aggressively so at that, too.

Okay with this to fit Horne, Rimbu, Robb and Westerman into the 17.covid tiger wrote: ↑07 Nov 2024, 20:16 With Horne regular at 13 I think Joe Westerman Will play at prop.

But our props look woefully and reliant on two 35 year olds rolling back the years, and we only have two recognized back rowers.

But the lack of available talent is evidenced by the likes of 37 year old Hill being in the squad v Samoa

At present we have released 5 forwards , 6 if you count Vete, with no new signings coming in, is our Head of Recruitment on holiday or as Danny left the club?

Re: New signing, retention?
We have announced Hudson , and no one seems to have signed Rhys Kennedy yet so maybe he is going to be announced as our final quota player ?
Re: New signing, retention?
Yeah he would be a decent signing

Don't think we've announced Hudson yet have we?5menofsteel wrote: ↑08 Nov 2024, 16:36 We have announced Hudson , and no one seems to have signed Rhys Kennedy yet so maybe he is going to be announced as our final quota player ?
In other news a player i mentioned on here, Leon Ruan who in my opinion would have been a better option than Hudson, has gone on trial to Hull KR.

Re: New signing, retention?
I think Ryan Sutton is off contract and obviously is English so wouldn't have to worry about quota. Also Bunty Afoa, has been offered to Superleague clubs - played over 100 NRL games for Warriors.

Id take anyone at this stage things aren’t looking great.
Re: New signing, retention?
Ryan Sutton is under contract at the Bulldogs next season. Bunty Afoa would be good but rumour has it Saints were in for him a couple of months ago but his wife didn't want to move over here.yellow_t-shirt wrote: ↑13 Nov 2024, 11:34 I think Ryan Sutton is off contract and obviously is English so wouldn't have to worry about quota. Re: New signing, retention?
And still we wait. We could really do with some good news on the signing front sooner rather than later. Pre-season is underway and we have a lot of catching up to do. All the other teams look stronger than last year to differing degrees, in my opinion we need 3 first 17 signings (2 props & a second row) to be competitive. Plus probably another back up second row and ideally a back up halfback
Re: New signing, retention?
most of the fans think we are very light in the front row this 10 yard rule as made size the issue, first two or three carries give to the big guys to gain yardage

Re: New signing, retention?
The 10-yard rule is not a new one though. Everyone playing the game today have only ever known the game with a 10-yard rule
