Wakefield get relegated and everything coming out from them is very positive, Cas manages to stay up and its all doom and gloom.
Looks like Wakie will have a bigger budget to play in the Champ than we will have in SL.

But no 1.5 million from Sky and no away fans.

Their new owner is absolutely minted and by all accounts is prepared to tip plenty of brass in to make them successful on and off the pitch. It really is a game changer for them.

Yet he's waited until they're relegated to put his hands in his pocket? I'm not sure if there was anything from taking over before now, but if I was a supporter of the club and had the finances to do so, I'd be getting things sorted to keep them from going down rather than trying to rebuild in the lower league to get them back up (which, even though it's likely, isn't a guarantee).

This takeover has been happening for months and they announced a large sponsorship deal with his company ages ago whilst it was ongoing. Where do you think the money for the likes of Fifita, Gale, Griffin etc came from? He’s been heavily investing for a while but their problem was the current owners wouldn’t sack the coach. Thankfully for us their stubbornness cost them as if they had we’d have probably gone down.

Or we’d have had to get our finger out a lot earlier, who knows? It’s what happens going forward that matters.

I don't think it will be easy at all for a championship side to take the place of a SL side that's why it was desperate we stayed up

If it’s about ambition and rich ownership plus expansion York may well be ahead of Wakey now.

They’ll be nowhere near them on crowds and on field performance over 3 years though.

How can you judge things tho the only way to judge things fairly is by performances relegation and promotion was the best way but that's been ditched

Rumours around that could be something more nearer to £1.3M

Give it a few seasons, nothing lasts long in RL. I have a strong feeling all this IMG stuff will not improve the game as much as some believe

In the championship, for years to come
Doubtful. They will breeze the IMG regs within two years.
But will they better than a club who’s in now, I reckon they need 7k -8k gates for any chance for the points in stadium not to be lost in poor gates

I agree. I’ve made it pretty clear in previous posts what I think of IMG. They are being paid a huge amount of money. I think that we will get a lot of deckchair moving , recycling previously failed ideas like licensing to protect the elite from relegation for poor on-field performance, more failed expansion schemes in areas with no grass roots interest, clubs going bust spending more than they can afford based on unachievable income projections ( as has happened in RU Premiership) with the danger that this will further damage the future of the game as traditional grassroots areas(which are the lifeblood of the game) contract. I’ll leave it at that for now!

Acquiring something you want, juxtaposed with a complete non-return investment is different.

Matautia can play anything from 1-12 in CH rugby easy.

An RL hall of famer once said to me the lions dont worry about what the sheep are doing. I don't like the guy* but why is Wakey our talk? We have to take matters into our own hands.

*either Schoey or Bobbie Goulding**
