[Match Discussion] Toulouse (a)
Re: [Match Discussion] Toulouse (a)
must be time to bring in the younger members of our squad after the total no show in the second half last week
Re: [Match Discussion] Toulouse (a)
I wouldn't risk it against bottom of league and a much needed 2pts, i would give the team a rollicking and hope for a reaction this week.
CLASSY CAS FOREVER

Re: [Match Discussion] Toulouse (a)
As much as those who have played of late have performed badly, I'd only risk the younger members of the squad en mass after we are safe, accompanied by the message to the 'older' players that they haven't been performing as expected.
Re: [Match Discussion] Toulouse (a)
That’s our problem we won’t risk it if it’s Wigan or saints there straight in the team.FIat Capper wrote: ↑08 Jun 2022, 17:29As much as those who have played of late have performed badly, I'd only risk the younger members of the squad en mass after we are safe, accompanied by the message to the 'older' players that they haven't been performing as expected.

Difference being, their youngster are good enough. Ours aren’t even championship standard.Mucky1978 wrote: ↑08 Jun 2022, 18:41That’s our problem we won’t risk it if it’s Wigan or saints there straight in the team.FIat Capper wrote: ↑08 Jun 2022, 17:29As much as those who have played of late have performed badly, I'd only risk the younger members of the squad en mass after we are safe, accompanied by the message to the 'older' players that they haven't been performing as expected.
Re: [Match Discussion] Toulouse (a)
I’d rather give Sam Hall a game then Matagi or Griffin
Re: [Match Discussion] Toulouse (a)
I’d give Eric Hall a game before those three!!
Re: [Match Discussion] Toulouse (a)
the team should not pick its self week in and week out even if performing badly, what kind of message does does this send out to our fringe players
Re: [Match Discussion] Toulouse (a)
You are correct. However, young players shouldn’t be chucked in at the deep end. I admire your continued advocacy for our younger players. However, can you name one who you asked to get a chance in the first team whose left and gone on to better things?
Re: [Match Discussion] Toulouse (a)
one still at the club Cain Robb one or two man of the match games in his very limited appearances as far as the lads who have left our club there must be something wrong with our system as the 19s over recent years have always been near the top of the table the lads falling short when given a go in the first team

So, a grand total of zero have left and gone onto better things. Maybe it is because they excel at age group rugby but flounder when it comes to playing against men?

He sounds like he’s going on to better things!
However, without posting it, I was clearly on about players who had moved on to other RL teams and not other careers

Who is Jules O'Neil?
The trek to France is in itself a challenge and if the temperatures are 30 + teams are at an obvious disadvantage but Cas by 4 in a low scoring game

Re: [Match Discussion] Toulouse (a)
There should certainly be opportunity for game time for all players and a change like this should help with player development (Sam Hall) and butt kicking for the older, established players. However, it can be risky if you bring in half a dozen or so at a time.
A prime example of this was the Saints game and they have quality youngsters, apparently.

Did jules O’Neil not go into love Island or whatever it’s called
Re: [Match Discussion] Toulouse (a)
We'll beat Toulouse.
The second half against Wigan was atrocious but it was Wigan, how many times have they turned people over like that after a bad start. Not to mention that we lost our more creative halfback meaning we had to reshuffle the team, far weakening two positions in the spine (Milner to hooker, McShane to halfback).
If O'Brien is out we shouldn't play McShane in the halves if we can avoid it, it weakens the team too much. If we have to though I agree with a few on here that think we should be playing Cain Robb, the few times he's played he's gone well and offers a bit more zip out of acting half than Milner.
Line up for me should look like:
Hampshire
Eden
Fonua
Fairamo
Olpherts
Trueman
Richardson
Watts
McShane
Massey
Edwards
Lawler
Westerman
Smith
Milner
Griffin
Hall/Matagi
