Re: Widdop
So from Radford interview looks like no truth in Widdop
Edwards staying
Trueman defo going.

Re: Widdop
Seen something on socials saying Widdop presented the 'Castleford Tigers' trophy at Ponte races yesterday. As I know nothing about the gee gees, I don't even know if such a race takes place but if true, very interesting...

Re: Widdop
https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/ru ... ngId%7E%7DGareth Widdop has moved a step closer to joining Castleford Tigers. Rugby League Live understands a deal to take Widdop to the Jungle is nearing completion with an expectation that a deal will be signed.
Last week, Rugby League Live revealed Widdop was in talks with the Tigers over a potential move to the club, with the England international set to leave Warrington Wolves at the end of the season. While Widdop is understood to have fielded interest from another club, sources claim Widdop's future is increasingly likely to be in West Yorkshire.
Re: Widdop
Widdop and Miller or Trueman and Obrien its a no brainer really.
Shame 2 of the quota spots are going be taken on Feki and Fonua tho surely we could of used them better.

I’d like to see two props as apart from Watts our props have been plodders this year.Mucky1978 wrote: ↑07 Jun 2022, 13:28Would of liked a prop and a Centre in place of these two.MrRugby123 wrote: ↑07 Jun 2022, 13:25Agreed surely there are better players available than Feki and Fonua.
Re: Widdop
Cant understand why we would offer Griffin a new deal as well.
Re: Widdop
Can only think it's because hes on a cheap salary or there isn't much else available for same amount.

Re: Widdop
I was at ponte races yesterday and the 'trophy' was presented to the owners of the winner (Elegant Erin) of the castleford tigers handicap race by a cas supporter who was stood watching and was called into the enclosure, she was certainly not WiddopFIat Capper wrote: ↑07 Jun 2022, 12:11 Seen something on socials saying Widdop presented the 'Castleford Tigers' trophy at Ponte races yesterday. Re: Widdop
It does seem to be a strong rumour, in a similar vein to Trueman to Hull and we all know where that's going/gone.
I'm still not convinced this is a viable long-term plan for Cas, particularly as Jacob Miller seems to be the preferred option to accompany Widdop. Hardly seems to reflect the desire to bring the squad age down although I do accept this partivcular aspect appears to have been aimed more specifically at the forwards.

Re: Widdop
I see what your saying but we did seem to be trying a development approach with young half back and it’s clearly not been that successfulFIat Capper wrote: ↑01 Jun 2022, 10:16 Probably a classic case of his agent saying someone else is interested just to try and get a reasonable (improved) offer from his current employer.
Re: Widdop
There's no quality about.
The roots of the game really need help and we should develop develop develop our own talent alongside experience at 1, 6, 7, 9 and a couple of go forwards and a Ball playing 13.
That's 7 experienced quality men.
The other 6 should be high quality youngsters that can't get in the sides of the big boys, and/or we find and give 6 of our own youngsters starts.
As it stands our roster is a bit of a joke. Our edges need to work defensively initially and a fair chunk of work is needed there.
I would keep as senior members these 4 with a couple of others potentially, but no more.
Evalds, Watts, McShane, Westerman
The rest is the plan and scope of work for Radford I bet.
What would you do?

Re: Widdop
Same. Miller and Widdop definitely in. Trueman definitely gone but I hear Hull deal not finalised yet
Re: Widdop
If rumours are true:
Miller (29) > Trueman (23)
Widdop (33) > Richardson (25)
Mau (33) > Blair (30)
Broadbent (21) > Claire (31)
Griffin (32) > Olpherts (30)
Mellor (27) > Peachey/Martin/Hepi (21-28)
Add retention of
Edwards (32)
Fonua (29)
Feki (31)
Griffin (29)
No doubt the incoming players are of a higher quality than the leavers (it suggest a higher cost too meaning some of the rumours wont be true). The age side of it bearing in mind the age of our in contact players is pretty high would be a massive worry for me, as would be the reliance on ex hull players.
