[Match Discussion] Salford (A) 20/05/2022

Post by Fumper27 » 16 May 2022, 08:59

Did we pick up any injuries?
Any potential suspensions?
Anyone due back?

We’ve won 5 of last 6 games so certainly one of the form teams. Salford picked up a good win yesterday but I’d expect us to have enough to come away with 2 more points.

Gonna be a tough game this. They played really well against saints a couple of weeks back as well. If we play anything like we did against them last time we will get smashed however if we play like we did yesterday we should get the result.

Possible 2 suspensions coming up for Watts' lazy arm on Coote and the Crusher tackle, by either of Griffin or Massey.
Lets hope they are more lenient at RLHQ nowadays.

It's likely we will have Wattsy (high shot) and Mamo (crusher??) being considered by the panel today.

I noticed Westy was slapping the side of his arm in the dressing room jamboree afterwards rather than clapping. He seemed to have a problem with one of his hands (thumb, fingers, wrist not too sure) during the game which he had strapped up for a short time according to the radio.

Richardson is fit but does he get in?? Only thing I could think of is a bench spot to cover the backs (move Obrien and Richardson to 7) with Watts missing thats possible and go with 3 forwards.

Or Blair in for Watts and Richardson misses. Lets see.

Noticed Jordan Turner was in training this morning on the photos Cas tweeted. Anyone know if he's good to go soon?

Sounds like Blair and Eden are in contention for the game.
Rest are the same as HKR apart from watts.

Danny Richardson is in contention to make his first-team return for Castleford Tigers this weekend - despite the fracture suffered to his neck three months ago still not properly healing. Richardson made his long-awaited comeback to action last weekend for the Tigers' reserve side against Leeds Rhinos.

It marked the end of a tumultuous three-month period on the sidelines for the half-back, the majority of which he spent in a neck brace that prevented him from doing any physical activity. However, Tigers coach Lee Radford revealed on Tuesday that after coming through his comeback match unscathed, he could feature in the club's Super League clash with Salford on Friday.

The coach has some decisions to make then for what it's worth I'd keep Rocky at full back and Trueman and GOB In the halfs I'd have Quarequare and Eden on the wings it's harsh to leave Olpherts out i know I'd have him in the 17

I agree that it’s a tough call. Think I’d go Eden and Olpherts because it’s away at his old club, but it’s great to have that sort of selection headache

Eden and JQ seem to prefer the same side of the pitch so even choosing who goes where is hard enough.

We're Almost embarrassed by the riches in the back 5 and I can't remember thinking that too often. I wonder if Olpherts fancies a go in place of Watts?

That's why I put him on the bench he would come on and make plenty of meters but I agree with you both it's a nice problem to have anybody who gets in 17 knows they have to perform well

David Finch was one of my favourite players back in the day he used to burst down the middle of the field knocking players out of the way long hair flowing

Finchy is a Normy lad, and was a great coach at the Knights too 💪
