Sets the standard on and off the field much like Roby does.old cas lass wrote: ↑23 Jun 2022, 15:04 I can’t get my head around being captain is weighing heavy on Macca.
What does a captain do.
Participate in the coin toss.
Lift a trophy (highly unlikely)
Maybe give more interviews than normal.
Have more input in team meetings.
Anything else.
Responsibility for others can weigh on some peoples shoulders a lot more than some people would think - pressure can and does take its toll. Some people are made for it and some aren't. Time will tell whether Macca is but, by his own admission in an interview, the captaincy has taken a lot longer for him to get used to than he thought.old cas lass wrote: ↑23 Jun 2022, 15:04 I can’t get my head around being captain is weighing heavy on Macca.

If it’s affecting how he’s playing he should hand it over.derbystiger wrote: ↑23 Jun 2022, 16:51Responsibility for others can weigh on some peoples shoulders a lot more than some people would think - pressure can and does take its toll. Purely for Wane to see which hookers would stand up, as he wants to take 2 of them in to the WC.Tamworth Tiger wrote: ↑23 Jun 2022, 18:20 Well he was good enough to be in the England team last Saturday so he must be doing something right, even if he hasn’t been quite at the top of his game.
the thing is, he wasn't good enough, i can only think he was picked on past form, having said that i watched the Toulouse game & i think it took a lot out of him?Tamworth Tiger wrote: ↑23 Jun 2022, 18:20 Well he was good enough to be in the England team last Saturday so he must be doing something right, even if he hasn’t been quite at the top of his game.
Wane acknowledged that he wasn’t at his best but didn’t write him off post match. There’s half a season still to goyorky wrote: ↑24 Jun 2022, 09:16the thing is, he wasn't good enough, i can only think he was picked on past form, having said that i watched the Toulouse game & i think it took a lot out of him?Tamworth Tiger wrote: ↑23 Jun 2022, 18:20 Well he was good enough to be in the England team last Saturday so he must be doing something right, even if he hasn’t been quite at the top of his game.
AbsolutelyThe Firm wrote: ↑19 Aug 2022, 10:08 McShane's problem this is half the time he has been stuck behind a pack going backwards. On the days we've managed to compete with the opposition forwards he's looked good but those days have been less than previous seasons this year and and hooker or halfback would struggle in those circumstances. We really need some extra grunt up front next year.
