Re: [Match Discussion] St Helens (H)
I’m not going to bag our side for last night, I don’t care what anybody says. Saints didn’t field their academy team, these were the 23’s and let’s not kid ourselves, they have the best youngsters in the country, the redvee TV guys on YouTube went through those youngsters and fancied the win, a number of them have been out on loan at championship sides, a few have been picked for the first team already and many are tipped for big futures in the game, they were fresh, had zero pressure and had not played 3 games in 8 days, it was a real potential banana skin, with sky absolutely praying for a saints win all night (sickening), well done to the lads for a thoroughly professional performance, don’t forget, we beat their full strength side last season at their place too, so they can stop crowing about sending kids!!

It was indeed and as mentioned earlier in the thread and largely glossed over in commentary that this was far from a full strength Tigers side, they did the job, good enough for me and importantly after Catalan we have players due back and a run of winnable games. Question for me now is do we do a Saints and rest a few for France, some of the lads were looking understandably leggy second half, with the break for the cup semis as well it might be a chance to let some of the lads who have done big minutes have a break, get over those inevitable little niggles and come back fit and firing.Derbyshiretiger wrote: ↑23 Apr 2022, 09:49 Don't let facts get in the way of the truth though eh?

When will we see Cheyse Blair play? I know he’s 100% fit so Radford must not rate him at all

Re: [Match Discussion] St Helens (H)
a number of our players are getting near the end of their playing days and should be given a rest to recharge a thing we could no afford over the Easter period a big well done to them for giving 110%
Re: [Match Discussion] St Helens (H)
Let's try and put last night's game into a bit of perspective.
This was NOT the Saints academy side. They were fringe first team players with a mix of SL experience thrown in. We weren't at full strength either (QQ and Claire have played one game between them all season so far for example).
Yes, we should have won. We did win. But those who were saying we should have put 50 past them, this was never going to happen. This was our 4th game in 2 weeks. They were fresh, enthusiastic, they play together every week so were well drilled (remember when our fringe team beat Hull I think it was a few years back in just the same way).
As was said a couple of times in TV - we needed to play well, we needed to be professional, we needed to respect the opposition, we needed to win. We did that.
6 points out of 6 over Easter. I'd take that every time.

We have 7 day rest before Catalan then have a week off. We should go all for it against Catalan then they have a week off to rest.

If IF wanted to reward the efforts of the team.
Send them to Perpignan a day early and bring them back a day later let them recuperate with a bit of sun on their backs.

Did anyone else notice last night that after Joe Westerman scored his try there wasnt the usual back slapping and hugging that usually goes on after a try is scored. The only player to tentatively pat his back was Mamo ???

I remember when Powell did a similar thing took the players early and came back a day latter as a reward for there efforts and all the players did was moan they were bored and it was too hot on the coach trip lolcasjunction wrote: ↑23 Apr 2022, 11:53 If IF wanted to reward the efforts of the team.

Maybe the squad don’t want to be seen as happy clappers…..?westerbeast73 wrote: ↑23 Apr 2022, 13:47 Did anyone else notice last night that after Joe Westerman scored his try there wasnt the usual back slapping and hugging that usually goes on after a try is scored.
