I thought at one point we were well ahead of wakefield for a new/upgraded stadium, but not surprised what the council will do for em, bearing in mind that most wmdc council tax payers live in the 5 towns and not in wakefield. I'd rather stay downt lane now and upgrade one stand at a time 🐯

They have just signed the s106, we already have one. The big question is, have the company paid up yet? They were waiting for the millions from the Newmarket people. Without it there is no build.

This is my assessment of the situation and with the Pussies starting in July, they are way ahead of us in the build timescales.

I may be wrong of course...

Of course we are. They hold the purse strings and it is their development.

Contrary to public belief, WMDC have not really favoured Wakefield.
All 3 local professional clubs have in the past received repayable loans from WMDC.
Cas have had 2, I was part of the process for one of them.

I welcome the news about Wakefield ground improvemts. It is good for the game and will help Wakefields revenue grow significantly. Using the stadium 365 days per year is paramount in increasing that revenue.

I suspect no-one can really put a timescale on our own proposed development. There is a hell of a lot of water to go under the bridge even to get to the outline planning stage.

Hi, I come in peace.

What you've stated is not really accurate, you need to view this.

https://wakefieldtrinity.com/blog/2022/ ... Xbmzks93J8

The S 106 we have signed differs dramatically from your own, one that is very reminiscent of our old one.

S 106 agreements can vary substantially, most notably on their enforcement. So to answer your question, yes the funding is in place.

This one is water-tight in that WMDC and WT RLFC would not sign until funds were in the Trustees bank account, ie £8.8M from Yorkcourt .

Yorkcourt cannot now renege as they have handed the monies over, it's basically that simple.

It's taken about six weeks longer than initially hoped for but it's there now.

Planning is complete and passed and contracts have been signed and demolition will start Mon July 4th.

We only have one minor concern and that is the effect inflation may have on the budget. It won't affect the main developments, the new East Stand, and the full refurbishment of the North Stand but may curtail some fringe projects but it's too early to tell for now.

I'm not here to gloat, a strong and vibrant Cas is vitally important to RL in both the WMDC and to WTRLFC, we simply can't prosper playing Toulouse and Catalan, we need derby games.

However as stated, mart I feel you need to understand that your S 106 is not the same as the one we've just signed. As some other posters on here have noted, you are where we were 3-4 years ago. I think you will eventually get what you need but I'm sorry to say it will probably be a slog. Axiom may be one of the better developers around, I don't know, but in truth that's like saying that one piranha has two fewer teeth than another, they will fight you all the way, trust me.

Best of luck and I hope to be visiting a revitalised Wheldon Road sooner rather than later. :)

Nice to hear from fans of other teams.

Not to pick issues up but you didn't had a s106 on Newmarket until now. We have at Glassoughton and it only permits the site from opening when the keys to our new stadium there are handed over completed. As you know at Newmarket they were allowing development as to not hit the percentage to trigger the newbuild. Which they shouldn't have done.

The statement in the blog states money from the council is in place but if you say it means it's all there, fantastic news. The build cost always goes up unfortunately. I've just ordered wood for my decking and it's 30% higher than a year ago!

It'll be interesting to see if we are 3 to 4 years behind you or not. I guess we'll find that out over time.

It's not a competition, if franchising comes in, there's a lot more points than having a new stadium. The big crowds for each of us comes from playing each other or Leeds. We need each other. But not Fev, never Fev. Lol

I might be proved wrong but you say we didn’t have S106 before. We did but Yorkcourt circumvented the original 106 to negotiate a new one thanks to the council and Rodney fooking Walker, all done behind the club and SWAG’s back.

One last thing......

Why do you need s106 if they've already paid you the money?
