Shane Warne
Not sure there are many cricket lovers on this site but I'm sure everyone's heard of the Aussie legend that tormented us for years.
Absolute shock that he's gone and in my view he was the GOAT!

Re: Shane Warne
I turned 53 last week and would hazard a guess that he was fitter than me.
Re: Shane Warne
He resurrected the art of spin bowling in test cricket when it was becoming a dying art up there with the best I've ever seen play the game great shock and sadness to lose him thoughts go out to his friends and family

That first delivery in England "Ball of the Century" still leaves me open mouthed.
He epitomised the way I like my sportsmen, play hard, shake hands, have a beer.

Was shocked to hear the news. The tributes have been touching. The greatest bowler of all time, even, in my eyes, above Murali, given 176 of Murali’s 800 test wickets were against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, whereas Warne took 11 against these weaker nations. Taking that into context, the respective figures puts Warne a country mile ahead. RIP Shane
Re: Shane Warne
It wasn’t actually his “first delivery in England”, more his first delivery in test cricket in England…however, it is a delivery that is unlikely to be matched, never mind bettered.Stoke Bloke wrote: ↑04 Mar 2022, 19:34 That first delivery in England "Ball of the Century" still leaves me open mouthed.

I remember the look on Dicky Birds face at the bowlers end when Warne produced that wonder ball it was like I've never seen anything like that before in all my time in the sport

Re: Shane Warne
That one ball dictated Ashes cricket for almost 15 years until he retired. English batters were just too afraid to play cricket against him and let him control what they did.
It was brilliant and not until KP came along did any English batter try to play Warne at his own game but even then, he still had the skills to keep taking wickets.
A brilliant cricket brain and exceptional ball control.
