ITV report on drugs in rugby league.

Post by lurcher » 16 Feb 2022, 00:52

i can't believe what i've just watched on the late ITV news. former rugby league players (ollie wilkes is one) saying performance enhancing drugs are in widespread use in rugby league and you have to use them if you want to compete. why do the major tv news channels only report on bad rugby league news. i don't believe it as we all know how rigorous testing is and players who have been banned.

Saw this and whilst I recognise the poor publicity, I think we take account of the standard of player that has decided to open his mouth now his career is over and he needs a few pennies from anywhere!

But did you see whether drugs were in widespread use?

Let's all get real, drugs has been in RL for Years, and anyone who denies they haven't heard anyone talking about It are not mates of a professional player. I even know of someone who played fo a local team who dabbled with steroids. He went from the guy who had sand kicked in his face, to someone nobody took on. When I questioned him, he said he was given this powder stuff and a few pills and told just be careful.
