Re: Trueman
Agents get some stick sometimes rightfully so. But without them some players would be getting shafted big time by clubs .derbystiger wrote: ↑15 Nov 2021, 02:14Agreed - if the rumours were to be believed then we should have snapped their hand off. The problem, probably, was that Truemans agent won’t be daft - a far better deal for the agent doing a deal for a player out of contract with no fee. No fee = bigger salary = bigger pay day for the agent. For all we know the club might have been willing to sell but the agent got in his ear telling him he’d get him far more money if he saw his Cas contract out.

Then players have no protection . They need someone to look out for them . No one works for free. Clubs wont like him he makes them pay the players more .FIat Capper wrote: ↑17 Nov 2021, 12:14 My view is that Agents are blood sucking leaches that serve only themselves, riding on the back of someone else's talent to ensure any deal gives them more money. They only enhance their clients wages in order to enhance their own.
They take money out of the game, money that could be used to further support the game and for that alone, should be banned.

Re: Trueman
Could be worse,
We could have once employed a football manager who was an agent who was offering players to Wakey before us, and then to us for more money.
And touting all our best young talent out while in contract

Re: Trueman
We landed some duffers, Harbrecht, Hlad.... similarly Blanche, Crouch...... can't win em all!
I remember the period well, I can't imagine it was a simple as a bung like that, but then again I recall stories circulating about some of the Corp Hosp money I paid in cash ending up with players, so who knows!
Glad those days are behind us.

If its true then I guess the club will wait for the perfect time to announce it and keep it up the sleeve for now? Club usually keeps Good news ready to drop when we have hit a poor run of form or attendances have dropped off?

Here's hoping we don't have to announce it till after the seasons finished and we've swept the board.Knockersbuses wrote: ↑03 Feb 2022, 18:15

Michael Korkidas when leaving Salford. Offered to Wakefield for 65k a year, Signed with us at 88k
Brent Sherwin “wouldn’t sign for less” than I think was 150k a year at the time - When he was happy at 90k
Add to that touting Joe Westerman and Richard Owen out while employed by us, Who at the time were two of the hottest prospects in the game.
