Done deal apparently. Goodbye for me I’ve never been massively impressed with the lad.

Wonder when he got permission from Cas to speak to other clubs?

Might be a blessing in the long run.
With his back problems, who knows, another set back with it could maybe either put him on the side lines for a long time or even finish his career.
So if it’s true, I hope to god radford as started looking long term for a replacement.

Agreed - if the rumours were to be believed then we should have snapped their hand off. The problem, probably, was that Truemans agent won’t be daft - a far better deal for the agent doing a deal for a player out of contract with no fee. No fee = bigger salary = bigger pay day for the agent. For all we know the club might have been willing to sell but the agent got in his ear telling him he’d get him far more money if he saw his Cas contract out.

He isn’t aloud to talk to other clubs before May let alone sign for one. That’s unless we’ve given permission of course, which would be highly unlikely seen as we turned down a massive offer for him from Warrington so I can’t see this having legs personally. Not saying he won’t leave, but I can’t imagine we would let this happen. My gut feeling is, he’ll sign another contract for a couple of years with us then move on if his back holds up. He’s made no secret of the fact he wants to play NRL buts he’s a million miles off that yet with his injury problems.

I think daft isn't a strong enough word if we turned down 200k or whatever it was and we don't have a cast iron guarantee he will.sign a new contract at Cas

Can't see it being true IMO. Hull would surely want to see how he goes this year after having such a serious back operation.

There may be a clause about games played this season, for the contract to kick in

If a player wants to move on, fine. Whether he's a Cas lad or not makes no difference. If we want to keep him we will know the amount it will take.

So ultimately if they can't agree and neither change their valuation, so be it. He goes.

I'd be surprised if we gave him permission to speak to other clubs early, it's not like we would need to do him any favours, if he wants to leave and getting a contract with another club this early isn't going to help him. DP didn't help himself. If the club aren't going to retain him then it's in our favour to seek a replacement without anyone knowing.

I was licking my chops in anticipation at watching Gale and Truey be the future at Cas since the day Truey played at Wigan and scored 3 or 4 tries
Since then Gale decided he wanted to be a Rhino and Trueys had back problems both got a bit to prove now for me

So, a player who, in reality, has no idea if he can continue playing the game has gone and signed a contract for the 2023 season?

He's either got a very convincing agent or Hull are stupid (or both!).

Anyway, best of luck...

I think some are been harsh on trueman.if he as been carrying a back problem for a while then there’s nothing worse than playing and not been 100% fit.if he’s now fully over that and as a good preseason I reckon he will be big for us in 2022.then a few may be gutted if he’s hull bound in 2023

Isn’t he still in rehab.
Don’t think he’s with the other players yet in pre season training.

So this is going to be the thread that replaces the Powell thread that ran all last year 😬

Maybe Radford has already identified a half back who he wants for next year and has given Trueman permission to look around, who knows 🤷‍♂️
