Trueman
Re: Trueman
so if this were true, who do we get to replace Trueman unless we already have a replacement in McClelland?
Re: Trueman
If it’s true and we have £170,000 in the bank, I’m expecting a top level half back to come in, especially when added to the salary cap space of the players who could / should leave at the end of this season.

Re: Trueman
I don’t get why Hull would pay 170k when he can negotiate to move for free in May.

Re: Trueman
But who.
Do we really need a 20yr old inexperienced half back.
Doubt we can get cherry-evens or nathan cleary.
Let’s hope radford can pull a rabbit or (HB) out of the hat.

I understand the theory that it allows Hull to talk to the player before May when others may also speak to him but £170,000 for a chat is perhaps a little optimistic. The Firm wrote: ↑08 Mar 2022, 00:02They wouldn’t.MrRugby123 wrote: ↑07 Mar 2022, 19:43 I don’t get why Hull would pay 170k when he can negotiate to move for free in May.
I also believe that if Trueman is looking to leave, clubs will already be talking to him in some guise or other, in spite of what the rules may say.

If they want to stop him from negotiating formally with other clubs and therefore starting a bidding war in terms of wages, they might have decided that £170k isn't too bad an option. If they sign him up to a 4/5 year deal it's only about 35k a year, and a bidding war may we have cost them more than that (and would have counted on the salary cap).
It might also be a wise move from a player who has just come back from a serious back injury, because if that goes again over the next few months he's going to be in a very weak negotiating position for his next contract.
That said, I doubt the £170k figure is true, even if the club has allowed him to agree terms with Hull. It would be fantastic business by the club if we have got any sort of fee for a player who could leave for nothing.

Re: Trueman
Maybe truey signed a new deal but then the fans turned on him and he said "flip it, I'm out of here". Wouldn't blame him tbf.
If we get 170k for a player most on here would drive to Hull and give him up on a free, we've done well.
Looking at other halfbacks, if Fev can find a player who started at Melbourne storm last year, we should be able to find one aswell

Thats the way I would see it Notts, obviously a transfer fee would only be paid if Hull agreed terms with the player and the transfer was signed off by both parties for the start of next season.nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑08 Mar 2022, 13:39Depends how keen they are on him.FIat Capper wrote: ↑08 Mar 2022, 13:23I understand the theory that it allows Hull to talk to the player before May when others may also speak to him but £170,000 for a chat is perhaps a little optimistic. The Firm wrote: ↑08 Mar 2022, 00:02They wouldn’t.MrRugby123 wrote: ↑07 Mar 2022, 19:43 I don’t get why Hull would pay 170k when he can negotiate to move for free in May.

Re: Trueman
If we’ve got £170k for him it could be a shrewd bit of business - If his back problems continue to plague him he may never hit the heights he promised to.
That said, While his form has been poor. I still think he’s a classy player - And will fulfil his potential. Anyone who spoke to Luke Gale about him while at Cas, He called him World Class - That doesn’t disappear overnight. Form is temporary, Class is permanent.

Re: Trueman
Personally i cant see any club paying a fee never mind a fee as high as 170k for a player that they can get for free in a few months.
It would be more believable if the fee was around 50k but even then i just cant see it.
Has it happened before, does anyone know?
