Trialist
Great opportunity for the lad and the club, who knows, may have uncovered a little gem here.
Re: Trialist
its encouraging to know we are looking further afield for talent & im guessing Lee Radford has a lot to do with this.

Re: Trialist
Good back ground being Fijian. They can play a bit.
Radford says he still green, might need more than 3 months trial.
26, years old, young in some Quarters, late in starting in a professional sport.
Do we need another back, maybe some one is moving on.
Radford gave away we will be playing some friendlies.
Hope the lad does good.

Re: Trialist
If Radford can unearth another Ratu Naulago, then I'm all for it.

Very impressed with Radford so far.

Re: Trialist
Its an awesome find. With Q being Fijian it should make it easier to bed in. I like a no loss strategy.
Re: Trialist
nothing to loose everything to gain welcome on board young man
Re: Trialist
What happened to Lloyd Wheeldon. Wasn’t he a trialist scrum half from earlier this year?
I seem to remember he was ex-army too?

Re: Trialist
Don't think he was kept on, not heard anything since. A lot harder for a half back/hooker than a back in RL. Even international players struggled to cross code.
Re: Trialist
Yeah, he had played SH with Harlequins so probably found the transition difficult.
Just had a look and he came to Cas in Jan 21 and was kept on through Feb but I can’t find anything after that.
Wing is probably the easiest to transition. Centre not as easy and half back the most difficult in the backs.

Re: Trialist
Good move this - if he’s successful in his trial it makes good use of some salary cap exemptions. Being from a sevens background I’d imagine he has that elusive thing you just can’t coach - raw pace. Good luck to him

Re: Trialist
It would be nice for Jason to get the opportunity, the problem could be that he was on union clubs radar before the try against Hull put him even more firmly in the shop window. He's aderbystiger wrote: ↑14 Nov 2021, 18:39with the bits we’ve seen of him, I think JQ has the attributes and potential to develop into a good fullback
gifted athlete who would suit both codes as well as having the pace for 7's,hanging onto him could be tough.

Re: Trialist
I know this topic is Trialist but it's strayed on to Jason.
As he's a pupil at St Peters l would imagine the Union boys will already have made approaches.
There much more money in their game and often career prospects after so perhaps he prefers league.
Whatever the situation it's a case of use him or loose him either Union or a more attractive league club.
You never know.

Re: Trialist
He's at Queen Ethelburga's. There is a lovely video of him returning to school the next day after his try scoring debut and being cheered in. My son goes there and is in the same year. It's very much a union school and it's facilities make our training ground and I would suggest any rugby clubs training facilities look poor.casjunction wrote: ↑15 Nov 2021, 07:39 I know this topic is Trialist but it's strayed on to Jason.

Wasn't/isn't Henry Paul the rugby master at Ethelburga's?mart0042 wrote: ↑15 Nov 2021, 11:25He's at Queen Ethelburga's.
