We’ll always be indebted to Danny the way he completely took Widnes apart to get us promoted back to Super League. Absolutely class player who I loved watching whoever he played for. Unfortunately Father time has caught up with him and it’s time to call it a day, but he can be immensely proud of his achievements and contribution to the game. All the best in your retirement Danny.

Danny was great for us when he first joined. If we had him sooner who knows we may have stayed up in 2006. I was always gutted when he left us after the final in 2007 but I understand why he did it as he needed the security for his family. A great player on his day.

He was good for us and was the real reason we were promoted. Pity he didn't stay and make s legacy with us.

He was caught between the devil and the deep blue sea.

He did want to stay but obviously it was all down to who won the final.
Wakefield told him he had to sign for them before the final or risk losing the final and playing championship rugby.
He made the Wakefield chose for security.
If you see his interview straight after the final he kind of explains that.

I seem to recall that, memories a bit hazy after the win.

He didn't seem to progress much after and we would have built our team around him. Really talented but a few demons I hear. I hope they are now in his past.

Always had the skillset but often let his heart rule his head.

I will always be grateful for that performance against Widnes.
