Why are some putting Lawler in 2nd row when he as played most of his games as a middle man after converting from hooking role?, surely Blair and Sutty will get 1st crack in back row with Edwards before we have to look at more makeshift options like Griffin and Lawler.

I think Griffins best position is back row, he had a great season there for Salford before we signed him but then DP chose to play him prop.

I agree, he was fantastic at right second row for them. Seems a lot heavier now.

we wont necessarily know who's playing where until the squad numbers are announced whenever that is & even then it makes a mockery of where people play?

I understand all of the reasons for squad numbers but I still preferred shirt numbers 1-17 handed out on match day so the number reflected position.

That was back in the day when names were not on the back of the shirt along with the number.

Yep - don’t know why names are needed on shirts

being one of the old school i still can not see what players numbers bring to the table , anyone thats new to the game how can you tell them the full back is number 1 to 40 when they ask who is the full back

I see what it brings to the table but, like you, prefer 1-17 as I said above. Having squad numbers with names is good commercially for selling shirts /printing of favourite players etc… and also for each player having their own shirts issued at season start in their size. On the flip side the current players name slot is prime advertising space which could command big sponsorship money to utilise it. Both systems have their pros and cons.

The squad numbers help the commentators identify the players.....

....Oh wait, even with the names on shirts the mensa members on sky get the players names wrong!!!

I just hope, with all the out side back signings we've made and we already have, that young Qareqare doesn't go to the bottom of the pile and is forgotten about. He showed in 3 games he's capable of handling Super League. Just needs a good pre season and a bit of size.

He certainly won't go to the bottom of the pile or be forgotten about he's got a big future let's hope it's at Cas

McLelland has a long way to go given he’s starting off injured. That puts him bottom, in my opinion, of a four player list (Trueman, O’Brien, Richardson, McLelland).
