What kind of salary do you think the younger members of the squad will be on per year before tax? I know the true answer! So likes of Peachey, Hall, Graham, Martin, Robb etc?

In reality l would have thought a minimum of £20,000 a year.
Assuming that they are paid a little more than minimum wage are classed as working 37 hours per week and paid 52 weeks a year.

Surely more?

Unless that is a basic with bonuses if you are in match day first team.

Agree, but the salary will be under 20 I believe.

This figure is there or threabouts, i know to be true as my mates son was in academy in 2017 and was on less than this so inflation would make it relative today.
Sounds like a poor wage, but what should we be paying the young lads?
We need to keep em grounded and aware of the real world.
We need something inovative to offer our young guys.
I don't think Powell was any good for youth development as he would not use them when needed, young players need sometjhing to work towards, not a dead end road where they know the first team coach wont take a chance.
Hope Radfordchanges this for the benefit of the club.

Id think the 15k would be their basic salary with match play/win bonus on top.

My mates lad was on a contract where he had to be on teamsheet 5 times to get any extra money.
Was never going to happen under Powell.
Don't get me wrong, thought Powell did a great job with 1st team, but should have made our young lads his projects and not players like Corey Aston etc.
Local lads need to see a light at the end of the tunnel for oportunities, something we dont offer at Cas, hopw Radford alters this.
Part of me understands why we got kicked outofthe elite academy set up, when you compare our promotion from within to likes of Leeds, Wigan Saints etc

Not sure, but when you look at the core of our 1st team squad how many out of the 30 ish players have come through our academy?
And you are talking historicaly, what about the last 5 years?
We won the challenge cup in the 60's doesnt mean we still can win it.
History is purely that, we need tomove forward with our club notlook at what we did but look at how we can do more

From the list in the opening post, 13 out of 31 came through our academy. This is a touch under 42%. I’m not sure how that compares to other teams. If you include Jason Qareqare, who is missed out, it goes up to just under 44%.

Not a bad percentage but half of them are in their late 20's there is a big age gap from the older guys to the younger lads. Personally i think we should be doing better than mid 40%.
Given how many quota spots allowed in a squad

It's a fine balance but are place in top six contenders should not be put at risk or even worse are super status. To please a few, people who want to see more young lads in the team if there good enough they will get in for sure.

Don’t know if anybody else has seen it but the RFL are stopping providing any funding to Academies going forward.

I doubt Trueman would have got a start unless we were down to the bare bones, i will give DP his due he did not miss many home under 19S games i hope Radford does the same our under 19S have in recent years either topped the table or been there abouts

He may have watched plenty of games, but was prone to pick senior players out of position rather than play young lads. For me that shouts out he did not buy into the academy set up.
As i say if you look at the ages of lads in 1st team squad through our academy there is probably a 4 to 5 year gap in talent coming through which is when Powell was our coach
Hope Radford does more for the young guys.

Doesn't it come back to the fact a club with such poor facilities will always struggle to get the best young talent to join them making it very difficult to compare us with the likes of Leeds, Saints,Wire etc.

It certainly is s factor. I'm hoping the new team of staff can sort it. When local kids are choosing a daily commute to Wigan and Warrington over a walk to Cas, we must know something is wrong.
