Re: 2022 Squad
I think fonua n faraimo will be Radfords choice on wings with turner n mamo in centre
CLASSY CAS FOREVER
Re: 2022 Squad
Lee should have put it right instead of buying Farimo imo. Without question.. Especially with Feki, Eden and Olpherts potentially available as top line wingers with Qarrqare waiting a shot and Clare for back up. Then the army fella!!!! Jeez.SuffolkTiger wrote: ↑15 Jan 2022, 00:36We have been for several seasons….
I’m confident that Lee will more than put that right ready for 2023. It’s make the best of what we’ve got until then.
His first mistake as CAS boss imo with Millington jacking in and JSL going especially
We'll struggle with interchange props especially and lose the grind in prolonged periods.
Do we have a quota spot still?

Re: 2022 Squad
I think our prop issue is somewhat exaggerated tbh. I'd expect Watts, Matagi and Massey to be in the side each week leaving Smith, Lawler, Griffin, Hepi and Westerman as other options at prop. Granted Westerman would be our 13 but we also have players more than capable of playing that role if Westerman had to cover. I see that these aren't all top quality players but they can do the job with a good team around them which I believe Lee has done well with building. All in all, I'm optimistic

We’ve had a coaching team dominated by half backs for the last few years
Radford may be better at getting the best out of the forwards

Re: 2022 Squad
I think when you look at other squads in SL then 6th to eighth is pretty fair, finish any higher and Radford will have had a a pretty good first seasonSuffolkTiger wrote: ↑16 Jan 2022, 16:18If Carlsberg did gloom & negativity when there is a general sense of optimism around the club ahead of the season…….Blackbulltiger wrote: ↑16 Jan 2022, 12:20 Think be a very hard season for us this year finish around six to eight hope am wrong but struggle in half's again think we have one off worse set off back up forwards in league

Yes and we can stand the loss of a half back, which a lot of other teams can't.tigerfeat wrote: ↑17 Jan 2022, 13:48We should be looking at top four with our strongest side out that's my opinion anywaySuffolkTiger wrote: ↑16 Jan 2022, 16:18If Carlsberg did gloom & negativity when there is a general sense of optimism around the club ahead of the season…….Blackbulltiger wrote: ↑16 Jan 2022, 12:20 Think be a very hard season for us this year finish around six to eight hope am wrong but struggle in half's again think we have one off worse set off back up forwards in league

Other thing I'd add Mart is when Radoford as got rid of the players he dosnt want that are off contract this season and brought in the players he does want for 2023 and beyond it will be a formidable teammart0042 wrote: ↑17 Jan 2022, 13:56Yes and we can stand the loss of a half back, which a lot of other teams can't.tigerfeat wrote: ↑17 Jan 2022, 13:48We should be looking at top four with our strongest side out that's my opinion anywaySuffolkTiger wrote: ↑16 Jan 2022, 16:18If Carlsberg did gloom & negativity when there is a general sense of optimism around the club ahead of the season…….Blackbulltiger wrote: ↑16 Jan 2022, 12:20 Think be a very hard season for us this year finish around six to eight hope am wrong but struggle in half's again think we have one off worse set off back up forwards in league

Re: 2022 Squad
There's certainly a few who won't have a role unless the injuries bite deep, so it's up to them to show in training their worth and when on the pitch make them undroppable. Do as turner and matagi did and earn the right to stay. It's just the way I like it .

Yes, I love an in form truey but it has to be one rule fitting all or it doesn't work. If he wants the big money he's got to show he's worth it. Injury free he could be stellar this year. I'm hoping so. And it applies to all. We can't carry Deadwood.Scoopage wrote: ↑17 Jan 2022, 15:49I’m thinking we lose trueman end of this season and sign a top halfback for 2023tigerfeat wrote: ↑17 Jan 2022, 14:44Other thing I'd add Mart is when Radoford as got rid of the players he dosnt want that are off contract this season and brought in the players he does want for 2023 and beyond it will be a formidable teammart0042 wrote: ↑17 Jan 2022, 13:56Yes and we can stand the loss of a half back, which a lot of other teams can't.tigerfeat wrote: ↑17 Jan 2022, 13:48We should be looking at top four with our strongest side out that's my opinion anywaySuffolkTiger wrote: ↑16 Jan 2022, 16:18

Re: 2022 Squad
Clubs who might have signed Trueman might be re-thinking that with the current rules on vaccination, especially as that might be even more important in the next couple of years. At the moment, unvaccinated players can't play in France so they will miss a minimum of two games, and that could be even more depending on loop fixtures and the cup draw. Then there's the issue that unvaccinated players still have to self-isolate for 10 days after a close contact with a positive case, so that's probably two games every time plus all training. Some clubs have already said that they won't be signing unvaccinated players for these reasons.Scoopage wrote: ↑17 Jan 2022, 15:49I’m thinking we lose trueman end of this season and sign a top halfback for 2023tigerfeat wrote: ↑17 Jan 2022, 14:44Other thing I'd add Mart is when Radoford as got rid of the players he dosnt want that are off contract this season and brought in the players he does want for 2023 and beyond it will be a formidable teammart0042 wrote: ↑17 Jan 2022, 13:56Yes and we can stand the loss of a half back, which a lot of other teams can't.tigerfeat wrote: ↑17 Jan 2022, 13:48We should be looking at top four with our strongest side out that's my opinion anywaySuffolkTiger wrote: ↑16 Jan 2022, 16:18

As for Cas, we have both Trueman and Richardson out-of-contract at the end of this year, so we could end up seeing a completely new partnership in 2023 with one or two half-backs coming in, in addition to O'Brien and McLelland. We'll also have some flexibility around the quota with Blair, Feki, Matagi, Edwards and Fonua all only contracted for 2022, so Radford will have plenty of options with squad recruitment and retention between 2022 and 2023.
Re: 2022 Squad
Some good points made. However, Matagi is contracted for the 2023 season as well:nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑18 Jan 2022, 14:03Clubs who might have signed Trueman might be re-thinking that with the current rules on vaccination, especially as that might be even more important in the next couple of years. Thanks, didn't realise that. I just assumed that with his age we would have only given him a year - he must be knocking on for mid-30s already!Fumper27 wrote: ↑18 Jan 2022, 19:05Some good points made. Re: 2022 Squad
It'll be interesting whether their vaccination status changed when clubs won't sign them or without a discounted deal.
Interestingly, Morrisons have followed a few companies refusing to pay sick pay on isolation of the person if found to be negative when unvaccinated. It's up to the person to prove a positive great by official means, PCR confirmed by NHS app or similar. If these companies can do that, then all will do the same. Hopefully.
