I suppose it begs the question, if the pitch is within the acceptable sizes, why bitch so much? Poaching moaned again in his interview with James Deighton yesterday.

It so stuns me that that they bitch so much but then don't go for the easy 40/20s. Maybe moaning is a better option.

What Poaching moaned about our pitch ?what's it got to do with him

They sure do love to whine about it.

When the ground was built the pitch was 100yds long, but switching over to metric left us with a problem because 100yds = 91m, which is a bit short and there's only so much you can steal from the in-goal areas and the boundary around the pitch for safety reasons.

Other teams go on about it as if we're doing it on purpose to gain an advantage, but both teams have to play on the same pitch so not sure how it's an advantage or disadvantage to anybody.

He said “What we have with this field in particular, we have a full pitch. That can’t be said about a lot of stadiums and pitches in this country. But we have a full pitch to hopefully play an expansive game that we will hopefully be able to play”.

Jeez, I think come the end of the season we’ll have enough to worry about without having a pop about pitch dimensions. I hope Poaching appreciates that a large playing area means other teams can also play expansive rugby and our record down the edges has been abysmal for a good few years.

I know the size of Cas' pitch gets plenty of negative publicity but note what Poaching says "a lot of stadiums in this country".

Looking at some of the newer stadia on TV coverage of games, Hull in particular seem to shorten the 40/30 gap, albeit less than Cas, and I'm sure Warrington's isn't always 10 equal 10m sections.

None of this should prevent Cas looking at the possibility of extending the pitch. Mind you, 10 equal 9m sections would do for me, purely for aesthetics.

I’d guess the big negative regarding extending the playing area will be cost, as it is a refurb of the current terracing at the RE would be relatively cheap, if you wanna lengthen the playing area you would have to demolish the complete stand and that would be expensive.

Fev managed to extend their pitch when they bought the second hand stands, the work being very similar to what is required at the RE. They certainly didn't have £2m from WMDC plus Sec106 monies from a developer.

Yes, we have bigger fish to fry but the overall cost shouldn't be too great.

First post new season, amazing how all these other teams and pundits mention our pitch size yet everyone aspires to reach the grand final where old trafford as the smallest in goal area of entire season. We don't here cries from teams about that, the rules state our ground is within requirements end of discussion

old Trafford also has what looks like a 4 foot deep trench on all 4 sides of the pitch & if a player falls / slides into it this could also lead to an injury, at least our ground is flat!

It means he's looking for excuses now before he's sacked mid season.

A coach looking for excuses before a ball has been kicked isn't the coach any team wants. By his theory his home matches should be winnable, however they've not many wins over us at their palace in the last few years.

i've heard wakey's new pitch will be considerably smaller than the old one as they are trying to cut down on the use of plastic. :D ;)

aye but not the main pitch, just the training pitch. strange that ariel shots show the training ground being even smaller than the main pitch but many years ago i remember colts and A team games being played on there.

Quick solution revert back to imperial measurements, I played for the U19s 70 71 and that was on the training pitch.

Are you sure about that? I didn’t think they actually explained which pitch they were talking about.🤣

I’ve read in a recent statement that it’s the training pitch no mention of the main pitch.
