Re: Cheyse Blair
Ha ha ...be nice to hear from him that he intends to put things right next season and end up leading try-scorer...

Re: Cheyse Blair
Agree. But people are asking when we signed him if he’s injury prone. Those are just been put right that he played 147 games in the NRL over 7 season so isn’t “injury prone”. I think the lads just been unlucky.westerbeast73 wrote: ↑01 Oct 2021, 12:25As a Cas supporter I dont care how many games he played for the Sharks I care how many he's played for Cas.
Re: Cheyse Blair
Yes unlucky but his misfortune is costing us a fortune.
Re: Cheyse Blair
the insurance's pays is wages as as been already said so i dont think its costing the club to much to get him back fit to play
i stand corrected if wrong on this.

Re: Cheyse Blair
And a useful place on our overseas quota
Re: Cheyse Blair
Not really. We had one space on our overseas quota all last season.
Re: Cheyse Blair
I know but, useful is the key word.
Maybe I could have phrased it better.
We may have had a free overseas quota space free but that may have been through choice.
We signed Feki to play - not to sit on his backside. So he took up a useful quota space.

Re: Cheyse Blair
Agree. Fingers crossed he does a “Jake Webster” and comes good in the last year of his initial three year deal. A fully fit back line of Evalds, Faraimo, Turner, Mamo, Feki is something to look forward to.

Or a fully fit back line of Evalds, Eden, Turner, Mamo, Faraimo if Feki doesn't come good. We're looking strong in the backs with a bit of luck

Re: Cheyse Blair
We just need some creativity from the halves to make the most of the back line - that’s my main worry. Still need a prop and a half back I reckon as I’m not convinced Truemans back is ever going to be 100%.
Re: Cheyse Blair
Honestly you would think he’s actually injured himself on purpose, I’m as frustrated as the next fan if not more so as I’ve watched him for long enough in the NRL and know just how good he is!
Value for money is not there but I can’t imagine he’s loving being sat on his ‘backside’
Re: Cheyse Blair
Don’t take this out of context.
We completed the season with a free quota spot and another one taken up by Feki, who hasn’t played for two seasons.
We may have chosen to leave one quota space vacant but Feki took up a quota space that we planned to use.
I didn’t say anything regarding how he got injured, just that he took up a useful quota spot.
Whether we like it or not, the fact that he was not available through injury has weakened our team for the past two seasons because he’s taken up a quota spot that we’d planned to use.

Re: Cheyse Blair
I think it's totally irrelevant that a quota spot was taken. The fact remains that we had a player who couldn't play due to injuries, it's part of the game we love.
Luke Gale was out for 1 and 1/2 of the last two seasons for us and Shenny missed most of another season. Not the players faults and just something you have to take on the chin.

Re: Cheyse Blair
Did we ever get feki wage off our salary cap for either of the 2 years hes been here? I think he played 20mins this season but didn't play any on his 1st season.

There's probably a loophole in this somewhere where a player's salary can be removed from the cap but as he remains registered with the club, the quota spot remains occupied. You'd like to think the two would be based on the same approach?

Re: Cheyse Blair
I believe the rule is, a player who doesn't play any minutes in the league can have his wages taken off the cap. But he still needs paying and if he played one minute he'd count. I would assume if he isn't going to play you could get another quote player in his place and dual role him with coaching.FIat Capper wrote: ↑04 Oct 2021, 16:12There's probably a loophole in this somewhere where a player's salary can be removed from the cap but as he remains registered with the club, the quota spot remains occupied. Re: Cheyse Blair
We’d have to apply for special dispensation to have him removed from the cap like we did with Luke Galemart0042 wrote: ↑06 Oct 2021, 09:58I believe the rule is, a player who doesn't play any minutes in the league can have his wages taken off the cap. However I’m sure if a player is out long term the insurance covers the wages so won’t have cost the club anything, Apart from taking up a squad and quota spot.
