Bit off topic but just sticking up for big Will. Just done an outstanding first stint for Hull kr in a playoff game. Strong carries and just as strong in defence. Sometimes these young kids just need an arm round them and give them some confidence and game time.Obviously the much decorated Tony Smith sees more in him than you Alf.
It’s a very good point IMHO. At Times a player just needs to be loved in order to bring out their best attributes! At the end of the day WM still has a chance of grand final glory. We don’t. Crafty old coach is Tony Smith.
Played injured did maher at cas. He was having problems with his chest and Powell kept telling him to man up as he was being soft. Maher took himself to hospital and he had been playing with a fractured sternum. Great man management by powell
How would you prove such a claim? Especially as, in December 2018, Matty Crowther said:

“Unfortunately, on day one of pre-season Will Maher ruptured his pectoral muscle so he’s going to be out for a while. He needs surgery. He’s never injured is Will, he’s never missed any games through injury it’s just a very unfortunate injury on day one. The fortunate part is that he’ll be back within three months, so it will take him the full pre-season.”

Hardly sounds as uncaring as you suggest…
Because I know him. He was in pain during every game at cas. Playing better at Hull kr
So you know one side of a two sided story? Either way, saying he’s “playing better at Hull KR” is hardly a massive endorsement, given he was below Lock Lane standard when playing for Cas.

You know zero sides of a 2 sided story. Still making a living out of rugby though isn't he

The MAHER thread has all the signs of our long running BRIERLEY thread.

Hope it doesn't go on as long.

Two players who are not Super player's for any club aspiring to be on the top 4.

In the absence of any real news let's keep them both running until they are both over 35yrs of age.

If I were his coach I'd be telling him to study Walmsley and the way he runs it in. They're a similar stature but Will is slightly taller so should be more effective.
Yes, it's really about learning how to play the game with the skills and size you have. Walmsley is a bit of s freak, a big man with an engine. So he plays in bursts and that's how the coach uses him. Exactly how we should use Matagi, give your all and then rest.

Barrie McDermott was a hard hitting, hard running prop and was real good. A lot of the Wigan forwards like smithies do the same. Barrie then decided late in his career to run and go into the tackle with his back and offload, turning before he got the tackle He thought he was a ball handler. It ended his career or did it extent it?

We need players like Matagi, Hepi and O'Neill to teach others to do the same for us. We can carry a ball handler at prop but they've got to be able to do the hard work aswell. Millo seems to know when to run and when to pass.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could clone our own players.
Be easy for the commentary team with 17 Paul McShanes in the team every week.
17 Paul macshane’s. Now there’s a thought.
Short of pace and height under the high ball. Offish on one wing and vanikolo the other would do it.

I thought Lee Crooks was a good forward and class at offloads. Just my opinion.

Everybody thought Lee was a good forward. Cas got the best of him I think, after taking a risk signing him.

Lee was class at Cas. Great captain and lead from the front with a class offload. Fantastic period to watch Cas, great memories from that era.

Crooks was a ball playing forward and you can carry one if the other forwards do the hard yards when needed.

When scrums come back it'll be even better, as we've got Watts, Smith and Westy with hands. They'll get rests in the scrum, it's forming and breaking.
