Re: Evalds?
Agree with Tamworth about Zacs off field shenanigans but controls the back line much better and can return the ball. Not seen Evalds do that at Xas yet.

Re: Evalds?
Some of it may have been. I wasn’t sure if some of the issue about the two ball bounces related to comms issues between fb and wingerold cas lass wrote: ↑17 Sep 2021, 08:59Nowt to do with wingers him letting the ball bounce bane.bane73 wrote: ↑17 Sep 2021, 08:06 So evalds is the new bad guy now is he? I swear to god we could sign mal Reilly in his prime and some clown would pick fault in him. The garbage that evalds had outside him in olpherts who'd be lucky to catch covid, never mind a ball or cold, while running makes his game look bad, yes, his game was off tonight but christ on a bike... Get some quality like mamo, faraimo, hopefully feki n Eden as well his game will improve no end simply because he's not having to worry about where his wingers gonna be floating off to.

Having watched it again they were quality kicks,
Warrington picked out the fact that Evalds likes to sit deep and just placed the ball between Evalds and the reast of em. tactical genius if DP had done it.
The rest is history

Re: Evalds?
Evalds had got better all season but had an off night. Probably our fastest player, Mamo slowed up but went again as evalds closed in.

I'm not sure anyone could perform consistently in a team as inconsistent as Cas but he did walk away with the Lance Todd trophy...

Re: Evalds?
Evalds as had a good season but does look to have lost a yard of pace from his Salford days, but this maybe due to the way Powell likes to utilize his full backs and the extra demands have taken the edge off it.
Re: Evalds?
We need pace back into the side them few games Greg Eden played we looked a different team

Re: Evalds?
As I said his game was off, but, was that due in part to poor communication with said wingers or his own errors in letting the ball bounce, it's an issue that certainly needs addressing in the off season OCLold cas lass wrote: ↑17 Sep 2021, 08:59Nowt to do with wingers him letting the ball bounce bane.bane73 wrote: ↑17 Sep 2021, 08:06 So evalds is the new bad guy now is he? Re: Evalds?
Think too many people are remembering Zac from his time at cas. Hes had 1 season at wigan where he played full back and that was the year he returned. Not the same player for me. 4/5 years on he is still a good player but id rather stick with evalds.
Personally dont want zac at the club, hes a ticking bomb just waiting for a chance to explode

Re: Evalds?
Let’s be honest 2017 Zak was absolutely leagues above everyone, I think evalds has been fairly this year compared to what we had hoped. I was hoping to see more of him backing up down the middle as his pace around there could have really challenged the middles of other teams but we never found that space or when we did he wasn’t there. Vs kr Milner made a couple of breaks that’s the breaks in 2017 that hardaker fed from and would have been on the shoulder of and that’s why people see the differences and Zak was always chasing from the back for those last ditch plays to hold players up evalds has done a few this year but he has just lacked consistency. Let’s see what radford can get out of him next year. Hopefully a fresh approach and get the best out of him.
Re: Evalds?
Evalds will be a stand out player for us with a decent pack which radford as known for and a quality half. Both richardson and trueman are too predictable and also take that little extra half second to make the play which kills the attack. If we get a quality quick thinking half and a decent pack watch evalds go is main think now is to learn to stop letting ball bounce. With all these sorted hopefully he will do a zak coming into play finishing/creating tries and the bonus is we all know hes not an idiot off the feel too

Re: Evalds?
I don't understand how this is even a debate, Hardaker could be better on his day but even then not by much. Other than that who are we supposed to bring in to replace Evalds? He's our best option and a very good player, stop moaning cos he's not been a world beater in a season where we've been mostly very poor across the board

Re: Evalds?
So, we have a thread questioning if Evalds is good enough because he let a couple of balls bounce in one game?! Unbelievable! Everyone has bad games now and again - even the bloke who managed to win a Lance Todd in a losing team. Evalds is a very good fullback who will win us more games than he loses us.
Re: Evalds?
Evalds needs his half backs to put him in space n ours just dont do it enough they just pass the ball on without any threat to the line making it easier for the defence to just slide across. Theres no fluency when we ship the ball out wide the pass is either slightly behind or too slow.

Re: Evalds?
People can say what they like about Luke Gale, but when he’s on the field there is nobody better at doing this. His pass selection and timing is a level above anyone else.

Re: Evalds?
Agreed
Re: Evalds?
Not only is luke gale good at this but he actually makes the defence think the dummy runner is getting the ball so they have to hold back that extra second which would be just enough to give Evalds the space he needs.
