Revolutionising the game?
Now, I don’t know if this is a serious article or a wind up? If it is a serious suggestion I don’t even know my thoughts on it but thought I’d drop it here to see what others think.

Re: Revolutionising the game?
I think it’s a serious suggestion. It’s certainly no more hare brained than most of the other initiatives the RFL and Super League Europe dream up.
Re: Revolutionising the game?
I think it's a brilliant idea, I'd definitely be up for paying to watch. I'd change it so each team has to have at least 6 under 21's players in the squad and also maybe a 7's a side game with 5 interchanges rather than 8 and 4.
Re: Revolutionising the game?
Let's not start changing the format before the game even gets a thumbs up. But an interesting idea and I would pay to watch. We need to do something before time runs out.

We only have half a team fit to play every week should suit us down to ground ...

Re: Revolutionising the game?
Can't see people paying or TV companies being interested in this if the top players aren't going to be involved, it is just an idea to save money on the proposed return of the reserve league being re- introduced from next season.
A nines or tens tournament with the best players in the comp would be a welcome addition, though maybe run on the old BBC2 floodlight competition format .

similar thing was tried few years ago we nine a side only lasted a year fell flat on its ass. All efforts should be put into getting the main 13 a side back were it should be before even thinker about side projects.

Re: Revolutionising the game?
There was an annual RL sevens Tournament in the 70s which used to get top billing on National TV (Grandstand). I remember Cas winning the ‘Wills Sevens’ in 1976. The competition was played in a single day.
Wouldn’t it be great to have that sort of coverage again?
Not sure why it needs to be 8s or 9s rather than 7s but I’m sure others will.

As much as it's important to get more juniors, it's the big name players that the new game would need. It's about income. I'd even have a RU team and an exiles team.

I think that's that only way it'll work and I'd make it instead of magic weekend.

Good to see our leaders making suggestions for the good of the game.
Seen no ideas coming from the socalled big clubs whoget all the plaudits in the game.
Inovation is what our sport needs

Re: Revolutionising the game?
I thought the general idea was to have a tournament that could run midweek through the summer months on a weekly basis to generate TV interest and not a one off sort of game like the old style 7s used to be at the end and beginning of the seasons?

Re: Revolutionising the game?
My 2 girls were brought up on that gateman.
They absolutely loved it and couldn’t wait for our next home game to do it again.
Luckily both still go and are season ticket holders.
So that sort of entertainment works.
It did on my 2.
Re: Revolutionising the game?
does the club still give free tickets to junior schools ? kids of this age can not attend on their own welcome to the tigers mam and dad

Back in the 70’s free season passes were given to local teachers who ran school teams in local comprehensives and middle schools. School RL thrived in those days.
Additionally tickets were given to school children a few times each season, and season tickets for young kids were dirt cheap.
