Round 2 v Leeds

Post by heritage1926 » 29 Mar 2021, 10:46

Looking forward to this one already. Always look for Leeds away when the fixtures come out, gutted we can't go.

I'd imagine same squad as Sunday, barring GOB and possibly O'Neill out. Richardson and Eden are fit again.

Leeds picked up further injuries Saturday to add to the injuries they already had going in to the season. Eastmond possibly to make his debut.

Didn't think much to Leeds pack, which has been bigged up recently. Get on top of that and we could be on for a decent win.

Will be a tough one. I'm not sure what to make of Leeds from the Wakefield game. They have tries in them, and with Hurrell and possibly Eastmond in the side they could have a different look to them.

That said I was really impressed with our boys yesterday. I didn't expect much before the game and felt we were missing some "X factor" with Turner on the wing and no JSL to bring enthusiasm off the bench, but 1-17 were outstanding in their effort and application.

As for Friday I'd imagine Danny Richardson at 7, Jesse in for O'Neill and maybe Eden for Jordan Turner - or Turner going to the bench instead of O'Neill depending on what DP is thinking. In fairness, I thought Turner put in a great shift on the wing and did us proud.

Whoever plays lets hope they can do the job and really put a marker down for the season.

Hurrell won't be available for another few week and Agar's said that Eastmond is also looking a few week too. Neither will play Friday.

Evalds
Olpherts
Peanut
Shenton
Turner (can’t be dropped with that performance)
Trueman
Richardson
Griffin
McShane
Millington
Ogi
Blair
Massey

Watts
Milner
Smith
Jsl/ O’Neil

Hepi
Eden
Jsl/ O’Neil
Bienek

I think Jsl will come in if O Neil is still injured but it seemed like Daryl wasn’t too fussed so we’ll have to see how that goes. I liked Watts from the bench he turned our tempo up a notch once he came on.

Eastmond at 6 would be perfect for us if he does play. He will get ripped apart against Trueman, especially first half, who was outstanding and Eastmond will be way off the pace to start with.

Nice we have the choice of players already. What a difference injuries make or not whichever the case may be.

Not wanna be nit picking but I’d leave turner in the side, put him on the right were we seemed a bit vulnerable in defence.
Bring Eden back on the left.
Olpherts didn’t do enough for me tbh.

Got the Monday feeling after yesterday, the potential for "after the lord mayors show".

Leeds didn't pull up any trees and that performance of yesterday should be enough. Like most, if we play well and get beat I am fine with that, just want to keep the performance standard high.

Unlike my feeling for a 10+ game against Wire, I think this one will be -10 points margin.

The beauty of watching Cas is that you just never know.

All teams (and indeed refs) looked a little ring rusty this week, even Saints, so the run out should help. I'm more worried about the knock we took and the loss of GOB and O'Neill will cause a little disruption but shouldn't be anything we can't handle.

Too close to call for me so I'll go for a Macca golden point.

Wouldn't risk Oniell we've adequate cover and guys chomping at the bit to get a shirt.

The forward battle will be key to give Galey space.

I’d go with as close to the same team as possible for this one
Evalds
Olpherts
Pete
Shenny
Turner,
Trueman
Richardson
Griffin
McShane
Millo
Ogi
Cheyse
Massey

Watts
Milner
Smith
Bienek

I thought in the brief spell he had against kr that bienek looked quite good. Strong and made meters in contact for sure. I doubt he will play and it’s more likely Hepi will be brought in.

I would go:

Richardson in for GOB
JSL in for O’Neill

Rest stay as is.

Liam Moore is officiating our game vs Leeds on Friday, is he the ref who had a shocker last time we played Leeds?

I'd only make the enforced changes.
Richardson for O'Brien, assuming he's fit.
JSL or Hepi in for O'Neill.

It’s not the Rhinos season ticket holder who sent Holmes off.

I'm certain he refereed Fev v Batley at the weekend and if so, he actually had a decent game. Granted, the game was much slower paced than a Super League one.

Nah, that was Tom Grant.
