I’d take him, O’Brien and sutcliffe. We moan about back up but for the money brierley has been playing for this year is disgusting. For a player with that experience on little money is a no brainier. He’d captain the reserve side and play when needed in the first team which at the rate we’ve had injuries this year he’d of played every game for us. Sutcliffe would be my first choice centre next year (if signed) and I’d take Gareth o Brien because he’s a quality player and you can tell he wants to play for our club.

I’d like us to sign O’Brien he would be first choice scrum half for me with Richardson as back up. Sutcliffe straight into the team for Shenton. We are desperate for 2 props as well.

I'd have GOB over Trueman like someone said yesterday a GOB DR partnership would be a better fit
Sutcliffe would be a good player to have in the squad or if we can't afford him maybe Brierley but we defo need a back up half back for next season whoever it might be

I hope we keep O’Brien, but it will depend on whether he thinks he’ll play more elsewhere.
If we don’t sign O’Brien, I’d have no issues bringing Brierley in as half-back cover. This year we’ve had nobody to come in and replace Trueman or Richardson without moving players around elsewhere.

I think we need:
Someone to provide cover in the halves.
A starting left centre.
One if not two props.

Easy to say, though. There aren’t many centres out-of-contract, and I don’t think we’ll be paying transfer fees in the current climate. David Mead is OOC at Catalans - I’ve seen him play well at left centre.
We’ve consistently been liked to Ikahihifo, but the new coach at Huddersfield might want him next season. Kyle Amor is OCC too - I think we could do a lot worse.

Like previously we’ve been linked with Sutcliffe who would cover centre/halves and Ashworth and Ikihafio who would improve our props

I wasn’t keen on Sutcliffe to be honest, but I’ve had second thoughts after watching Shenton struggle recently. I know players go through periods of poor form, but at Shenton’s age I’m thinking it’s going to be very hard for him to get back to his previous level.
After the Catalans game, Powell said that Shenton would never have another game like that, but unfortunately he’s had a few now.
He’s been a fantastic player and captain for us and everyone should be thankful that he has been an important part of the club for so long. But there is no room for sentimentality in sport - Sutcliffe is a better player now and if we can bring him in to replace Shenton then we should do it.

Only if GOB doesn’t sign would i consider Brierley. He would be ok cover for the halves and fullback and a back up goal-kicker and at a decent price. But only if O’Brien doesn’t stay, he would be first choice by a mile.

With someone who can cover at half back, so we don’t have to move other players from their best positions?

Agreed. The bloke has been fantastic since he joined.

You keep saying this but you really believe cas will get rid of Rankin Mcmeeken Cook Turner and possibly Millington Jsl Smith n Moors and the only player to be brought in is Evalds?

Says on one of the headlines for the league express that Powell has said that we’re signing at least 2 more players.

Article says that he would like more front rowers and back rowers (it reads more like a Massey/Millo type that can play 8/10 and 13).

Also said we would like a half back too. Says we have an up and coming half who looks good but would like someone else as back up
