Benji Marshall
Benji Marshall
Slip on NRL 360 whilst Ikin was talking to Marshall.
‘Last time you’ll play the for Tigers Benji...I mean in Australia
Probably just a genuine slip of the tongue / part of the conversation but it makes me wonder whether he could do 2-3 years as utility, half starter (or cover) full back cover, even centre cover.
I doubt he’ll command huge money.

Re: Benji Marshall
I think he’ll stay in oz.
Re: Benji Marshall
He will have plenty of clubs after him if he wants to come over here far better than most half backs in super leagueMysterio wrote: ↑23 Sep 2020, 12:12 Slip on NRL 360 whilst Ikin was talking to Marshall.

Re: Benji Marshall
No chance, cas don’t have any cash to spend on him.

We can pipe dream.
Re: Benji Marshall
IMO we have quite a bit of room to manoeuvre with our outgoings.
Considering the positions Marshall could be used in, he would be an outright master signing/
How many years do you think he has left at UK SL Level? Hes 35, so 3?

Re: Benji Marshall
Weird how thoughts occur, I was watching Wests the other morning and allowed myself a little dream.
But it is little more than that - he's an out and out wildcard half now - of the positions we seem to be struggling with, that's not it arguably.
Equally, if you got the NRL Benji - great, I suspect he wouldn't bring that level of energy and intensity.

Re: Benji Marshall
Too risky a signing for us - even if we had the cash. A bit of a maverick & our history with that type of character says it wouldn't end well.

Re: Benji Marshall
Would be a huge signing that ultimately wouldn't bring much to the team. Next year we will have a quality fullback who can cover the halves good wingers and Mata'utia who I really rate at centre. Shenny definitely needs replacing but there are much better centres than Marshall and he'd be wasted there anyway.
Edit - I also don't know what is happening with O'Brien next year but I'd love him to stay for cover. Have been impressed with what I've seen so far and he'll be desperate to find a club to stay with beyond this year

Re: Benji Marshall
I know Marshall isn't a centre but he has played centre many times and I was saying that's the only place I would take him in the team, over Shenton.
I've never seen Evalds in the halves but I swear I heard something about him playing there before though. I might be wrong about that one

No chance we’ll get Benji doesn’t sign like we’re signing anyone else tbf we’re not even being linked with anyone
Re: Benji Marshall
Think we might need to lower our expectations for signing wise for next year...
Re: Benji Marshall
Shame he got injured in his final game for the aussie Tigers
Three different injurys from one tackle that is bad luck

Re: Benji Marshall
Genuinely don't think signing a 35 yr old Aussie utility man is overly high in expectation.
That would be Marshall at 24.
Arguably think the signing of evalds eclipses the expectation level of a potential signing of Marshall
Especially as our Salary cap allowance has been significantly improved.
