Great to see that we now have a Cas fan in charge of the England cricket team.

Good luck to him and brilliant that the ECB didn’t bring in a foreign coach.

I believe he played amateur RL for Kippax as well as cricket for Cas.

I spotted that. Shame he didn’t have a spell coaching Yorkshire first!

It is good yes. Let’s hope he mentions our name in relevant sporting circles; new stadium etc. He’ll be rubbing shoulders with some VIP’s nowadays.

On a personal level I know him having used to knock about with a core group of players back in 02. He was close to Lynchy and M. smith and came out with us to wakefield with lennon and monkey etc etc. I thought he was a bit of a sly dog but good value for the crack. He was quite a naughty boy too ha ha...

Went to school with Spoons, was always a sports talent, helped by being massive at 13!
Same school produced a few good sports people in our year and thereabouts - Twins - O'Neils and Keedy's went on and did well in cricket. Chris Chew around Rugby League for years round Cas.

Nothing to do with Cas mind, but well done him, very difficult job to do!

It absolutely will be of no harm him being a cas fan and liaising with all kinds of sponsors and the like in such a high profile job.
Might be worth JW befriending.

Would be interesting to know how many other celebrities are Cas supporters and who they are?

I found this thread quite interesting finding out about different well known Cas fans. I don't understand why some get so wound up about it. I have no problem reading about a Yorkshire cricketer even though I support Warwickshire. There should be more threads slightly off topic, it makes a change from the normal threads that often become repetitive and eventually end up talking about the same issues

For me, its because the thread has got nothing to do with Rugby League or Cas Tigers (really), it's a 'Cricket' post. If people wanted to read about cricket they could go to 'Other Sports'. But I'm biased because I can't think of a more boring past time than cricket. I thought Chris Silverwood was possibly a new signing, board member, club member at Cas - other than a link to cricket, I still don't know or care who he is.
