Best overseas player

Post by Casforthecup » 09 May 2017, 19:56

We've been treated to some great overseas players in the past. What are people's favourite 3? Mine would be Tawara nikui, Danny Nutley and Luke Dorn. Hard to pick just 3 mind

looking at the names mentioned we have had some cracking overseas players, but our present crop are not too shabby, there isn't any better players in our league in the positions they play than Roberts and Moors and who in their right mind could wish for any one with any more enthusiasm than Jesse this lad gives over 100% every match

Brett Atkins became an instant hero. I think he shared digs with Steve Robinson who played at 6 and was still in his teens, and our third overseas player at the time was Gary Freeman. Happy days.

As a triumverate the three Kiwis from the 90's were collectively our best three teamwise but two out of the three can only be refused legendary status due to obvious reasons.

Nikau was the best by far, a top guy as well as a top player. ....

They're all of their time I guess, I haven't spent a lot of time watching all of them.
Vowles is an obvious choice because of the time he was here.
Manu was brilliant to watch.
Nutley and Millington in their own jobs, probably not fair to mention them together as they're so different.

In our wilderness, I was a massive fan of Steve Crouch, top bloke, good man and the line he ran for the try from back row in the GF was poetry.

It is hard to look beyond Nikau, as someone said previously he was a next generation player at the time.

Above all, my favourite was Tawera Nikau, loved him even when he was at Wire....top bloke.

Next 2 for me would be

Adrian Vowles
Grant Millington

Honorable mentions for Dale Fritz, Aaron Raper, Luke Dorn, Brad Davis, Danny Nutley
Tigers for Life! Not just for SuperLeague!!

Tawera Nikau = Legend
