After a great opening to the season, it’s an example of the RFL shooting the game in the foot. Salfords situation should have been seen coming when they asked for the initial bailout.

If the money is all future promises they need to be heavily penalised.

I was and remain very suspicious about this in the light of their previous track record.

Said somewhere else, just when you think Rugby League can't look any more tin-pot, hey presto it does.

I am trying to be fair, if we were scrabbling about trying to save Cas, but how the "Elite northern hemisphere competition" can have one of the clubs in this debacle before a ball was kicked seems stupid. I know RFU have had similar issues with clubs going under but Salford were not ready for the start line I am afraid.

as i mentioned on another forum, bear in mind this is not something new, salford have been overspending for years & the rfl have let them get away with it, both parties are a disgrace & to think we have been living under the threat of relegation for some time especially under the IMG regime

There fans seem to think other clubs and journalists have an agenda against them and can't wait for an opportunity to stick the boot into them

Most of us think that Cas is viewed the same way.

The latest statement from the Rl suggests theve just about ran out of patience with Salford the players not getting paid when there were cast iron guarantees saying they would be may be the last straw

Believe it or not , if the takeover does go through , they will be in a really strong position . They scored very poorly on their finance criteria in 2024 . New investment that clears there debt and gives them a positive balance sheet will almost certainly make them a Category A at the end of 2025 .

Suits me.
Got to take advantage of the Salford debacle.

Heard it’ll be Tuesday or Wednesday before they will get their pay.
