We need two great props and 2 great back rowers imo; a good centre…
All good quality at least anyway.
Expect the 9 going frees up around 600k on the cap, and we’re already under the cap by another 500k at the very least, more like 1m?
So I’d expect us to have circa £750k available to use in my very rough estimation. If you don’t agree, how much do you think we’ll make available?
That’s 1 or 2 excellent signings and another 5 or 6 good ones…
No idea M.
We all know the clubs way, on the cheap.
I’m not expecting to much but hoping for the best.
Knew we were over a million down on full cap.
Make that 1.6m to spend. If we could afford it or WANTED to.
Realistically reckon we’ve got a war chest right now…
Why over £ 1 M down ? Isn't the salary cap £2.1 M
Good question.
Looks like it's £3m to me, including marquee. Otherwise the clubs spending that or near that amount would be relegated or points docked
Cap is £ 2.1 M . You can then have up to 3 marquee players on top of that.
Club-trained marquee players will count at £50,000 on the cap, and federation-trained players will count at £100,000. Other marquee players will count as £150,000 on the overall cap.

Sky did a survey off all clubs spend Salford were well down the list only spending a estimated 1.7 million of the 2.1 million if that's correct theve done a tremendous job getting the results they have and playing an attractive style of rugby
Estimated spending for 2024.
Wigan Warriors – £3.1m
Warrington Wolves – £3m
Catalans Dragons – £3m
St Helens – £2.7m
Huddersfield Giants – £2.7m
Leeds Rhinos – £2.7m
Hull KR – £2.4m
Leigh Leopards – £2.2m
Hull FC – £1.8m
Salford Red Devils – £1.7m
Castleford Tigers – £1.7m
London Broncos – £1.4m
Does anyone think If you added £700,000 to our spend this year do you think we would have got anywhere near 2nd or GF like HKR.
I’d imaging that buys you a quality half, 2 decent props and a squad player.
Personally not so sure with that we’d have been anywhere close to competing for anything different than what or where we have finished this year, maybe would have achieved 7-8. I still think big changes are needed going into 25/26.
700k for me
£175k HQ half back probably less
£150K HQ prop
£150k HQ prop
120k back rower
50k each 2 x prospects, or squad men.
A bit in the kitty if we want to increase our SC spend or an opportunity presents itself.
At which point I think we could easily find another £150k if needed if we as planned decide to increase our SC spend as part of our 3 year plan?
My very rough workings out !!

Majority of superleague players could be classed someone else's rejects

All apart from academy products could be classed as such.

Elliot Minchella is a Leeds reject. Think we’d all agree he’s going alright?

I don’t think Rob ever went to Cas but Gareth Ellis was rejected by Cas in 1998

Isn’t Paul Anderson a Cas lad that the club didn’t want?

Mate of mine was in that academy squad, which won the GF in 2004 under Diesal, and said the rumour of Sam going to Cas for a trial is not true.
