Castleford Tigers have set their sights on Parramatta Eels halfback Daejarn Asi. Rugby League Live can reveal that Tigers have spoken to Asi's management about a move to Super League next year, with the playmaker keen to explore options in the UK.
Asi, 24, was offered to Super League clubs last month and the Tigers are thought to have launched a move with a view to securing his services for 2025. Asi has made 39 appearances in the competition for North Queensland Cowboys, New Zealand Warriors and most recently, the Eels.
A deal isn't yet done but with Asi keen to pursue a move to Super League, the Tigers are confident of securing what would be a key piece of recruitment for 2025.
Asi has played 14 times for the Eels this season, scoring three tries and providing four assists. The half-back has also played in both the Queensland and New South Wales Cups, first turning out for Townsville Blackhawks in 2019. He has also played for Parramatta's NSW Cup side over the last two years.
On the international stage, Asi has represented Samoa, earning two caps for the Pacific Island nation in 2023. He has also played for the Māori All-Stars.

To be fair with Iro, he was always planned to break through in to the Cronulla team and they had no plans letting him leave to anyone. Looks like he is going to pick up the Dallly M rookie of the year too, he's had a cracking season.

I really hope the club have learned from the Kayal Iro situation. Too much press coverage before any deal was done led to fans’ hopes being dashed. This move has the potential to open old wounds for the BoD if he doesn’t sign. Fans are desperate for some good news on the signings front & Asi would certainly fit that bill. I just hope it’s done & the club are just waiting for the right time to announce it.

Re: Daejarn Asi
I think the news on both players as come out of Australia.
The club as done its level best to keep everything under wraps.
Only thing I can think of is the deals are done and dusted and the players themselves have leaked it or the players clubs have.
So we’ll have to wait and see if they are cas bound.

Sounds decent @EvaTiger78. Play this kid at 9, Horne at 13, move Westerman to 10?
