Re: Widdop
Miller played for Hull fc under Radford hence why hes getting him to Cas.
Re: Widdop
Look I aren’t gonna start this post by making out I’m absolutely ‘Wow’d’ by the signing of Gareth Widdop, has he hit the heights as the player that came over from the NRL most probably not but he is a big improvement on any player that has played at 7 this year.
We are currently sitting in 6th position with 9 wins 9 losses, that’s not bad for a team that I personally don’t think have looked great all year!
We have not had someone to talk an organise since Luke Gale left and it’s showed massively, everyone says we need a centre and I aren’t going to disagree would be nice but this year the 3/4’s don’t seem to get enough early ball to do anything with which is obviously down to the halves.
As for Miller he’s been the best player in a bad team for best part of 10 years, a fresh start behind a better pack will surely benefit him.

Re: Widdop
If we’d signed Lolohia from Leeds we wouldn’t have been impressed! I’d have him now.
I’m pleased with Widdop. Many on here wanted rid of Trueman, now it’s happened and the club has got two quality halfbacks in.

Re: Widdop
bid worry with the Widdop signing is his dodge shoulder the lad as had three dislocations so i have read
Re: Widdop
Ability wise i think a Widdop/Miller partnership looks good on paper. My only concern is Widdop's injuries but that might have to be a risk we take, there really aren’t that many available halfback options out there, especially English ones.
Re: Widdop
i would like Cas to be more proactive in the lower leagues with the amount of players for every position there must be some diamonds out there waiting to be discovered looks like saints have found another with Batchelor after Warmsley
Re: Widdop
I've been thinking this all season watching Champ on Premier Sports. That Walmsley on the wing for Halifax looked a player the other night, same with Ben Tibbs - 21 year old.

Re: Widdop
I think the challenge there now with the Championship being settled for a little while is you have players on a playing contract and a full time job (had one in my dept at Fax, won't name him) so a decent FT job and an average playing contract is more than you would typically get for a squad player in SL I am afraid. It isn't financially attractive unless the money doesn't matter, there are few of us in that situation.
Re: Widdop
I think that is where as a 21 year old you have to back yourself, especially if you have no real family responsibilities yet. Got to say 'I'll take 10k less to play RL full-time and back myself to get to the top'. I reckon there is no much Champ talent that could have thrived in SL but like you say they don't see the financial benefits.mdean wrote: ↑14 Jul 2022, 10:03I think the challenge there now with the Championship being settled for a little while is you have players on a playing contract and a full time job (had one in my dept at Fax, won't name him) so a decent FT job and an average playing contract is more than you would typically get for a squad player in SL I am afraid.
