the lad as been great for us this year at 32 a three year contract seems a bit long , but the lad will have been in big demand and the only way we could have tempted him to stay would have been to give him the three years, glad to see him in a CAS shirt next year

3yrs Mmm.
Maybe 2 with the option of a third.
Let’s hope the 3yrs don’t make him to comfortable, he needs to continue with the form he’s showing for the next 3 years.

If you read it.

He’s 32 but only played 150 games. Not like he’s played 300/400 and he’s in cracking shape.

I wouldn’t worry about him been able to do it, What I would hope is that he doesn’t get “comfortable” now he’s not playing for a contract

Great signing, I'm confident that with the Wheldon Road crowd behind him, Kenny will continue to produce the form he's already shown us! #COYF

Cas fans: sign him up, he's been our best player, be a travesty if we lose him

Also Cas fans: 3 year contract, too long that, he's 32, what we doing that for

Can't make it up sometimes.

Wooohooooo! Made my day that, absolutely fantastic news. Not wanting to be greedy but can we now have a decent half or 2, a centre and a prop now please 😃

Thing with Edwards is he appears to love playing and you can see the joy it brings him when he scores trys can't see that changing with him

My first worry is the 'comfortable' part but from what we've seen so far, playing, competing and winning also seem to drive him.

On the 3 years, I suspect it was the only way we'd get him and how many games he's played isn't a deciding factor. At 32, the body takes longer to recover and there aren't many James Roby's out there. I'd still be happy if we get another 2 good years out of him.

It’s true but in sporting age he’s pretty young with only 150 games under his belt.
Brad Davis and Ian Wright are good examples of late starters whose bodies could still hack it at the top level well into their 30s

Remember he only made his nrl debut when he was 24 so only played for 8 full seasons.

By the time his contract expires in 3 years he will have had 11 years as a pro.

That's not huge amounts and he has not had any serious or reaccuring injuries

I'm appreciative of those details but on this basis, if someone starts playing pro RL aged 90, they can have a good 11 years and retire aged 101?

His body is still aging. By 35 he'll be a tad slower, perhaps more injury prone. Think of the poem by Laurence Binyon:-

"Age shall not weary them..."
