Matthew Shaw suggesting Cas in talks...
Could be expensive.
Upgrade on ours but then looking at him at Wire, will he be worth it?
Thoughts?

Re: Widdop
Definitely better than what we have but at 33 we will only get 2 years out of him realistically.
Re: Gareth Widdop
He’ll fit right in. Fans on here already slag him off

I’d be happy with Widdop

Re: Gareth Widdop
Id be happy with him aswell, wouldn't want us paying marquee for him but im sure his wage would be less now hes older.

Re: Gareth Widdop
I agree OCL. Like I said on text, why can’t we find a French, a Field or a Lino??old cas lass wrote: ↑31 May 2022, 17:42Come on fumper, surely we can fine a young (20) year old in the Aussie lower leagues. As wakey did for Lino.

Re: Widdop
Wouldn't mind this signing at all tbh especially if it's a year deal to get us some immediate improvement in the halves then either he proves his worth and stays or we have that extra year to scour the market for younger talent. Obviously if we offer him a long term deal or silly money then it's bad business

He would be a big improvement on Trueman and Richardson that's for sure.
Re: Widdop
BBT told me it was on a 5-year deal

Can Kinell play centre?
Re: Widdop
As a short term stop gap i'm fine with this. Still decent, would complement Miller well and a pretty good goal kicker. Keeps a quota spot free as well.

Re: Widdop
The only problem I’d have with this is the wage demands. He won’t come for anything less than big money. And I’m not sure he deserves it.
I’ve always thought his best rugby was played at FB and was over-rated in the halves.
However
There aren’t many quality halves in the market over here. So ultimately it would all depend on the terms of the deal - I wouldn’t want to be breaking the bank on him - But I’d also take him for the right money for 2 years.

It is an interesting thread, but I just can't see it.
For him or us in reality.

Probably a classic case of his agent saying someone else is interested just to try and get a reasonable (improved) offer from his current employer.
