Wire RL Fans forum in meltdown. The majority of the blame being laid at the feet of the players as opposed to DP. Lots of chat about squad members not embracing what he is asking them to do.

Like us, they have a fair chunk of the squad off contract at the end of term which isn’t helping DP shape the future.

Tbh when you've rubbished the team for not trying and not doing what he wants there's no where left to go when it gets worse
You have to drop the players who arnt trying to keep picking players who you've said arnt trying is a bit silly have the courage to play young players that's all you can do

Not in Powell’s nature to blood youngsters.
Could be his undoing at Warrington.

In fact he spent the whole of last season shaping their future while he was under contract at Cas.

And they have some good young players he may as well give them a go instead of keep saying those he's picking arnt trying and have a bad attitude but like you say not the way he works to throw lots of youngsters in so far the fans seem to be with him see how long that lasts ...

The will of the many usually supersedes the will of the one, see it in all team sports, if it comes to it easier to change one or two leaders than a playing squad.

I don't think it will come to that, but a bit of soul searching needed. If they push through this, I think they'll be better for it, bad times deepen the bonds and that!

Did he now? What did that look like on a day to day basis?

The fact is that, bar a few personnel changes, he still has the same squad that got the previous coach the sack.

In a salary capped sport player retention and succession is everything. From a distance it looks like only Saints have got that consistently right over the last 5 years and they combine it with a very effective youth development policy and structure. It's not just about the now - it's about always looking 3 years ahead.

The wire fans are scathing of their squad management at the moment - especially that of the forwards. Leeds have also got that badly wrong and it's why they are where they are right now.

Just watched last night's Warrington match I find it interesting that the young players are the ones being left out by Powell or brought off of if they make a error and yet the more senior players like Philbin Holmes King Widdop when he was fit have been total garbage when I've watched them and keep getting picked no matter what very similar to what happened when he was down lane

Think he had a bad knee injury end of last season.
Not sure if he’s still recovering from that.

I agree and would add that Peanut seems similarly dissatisfied with life over there.

I will also add that I now believe DP has bitten off more than he can chew and the prima donnas at Wire are a hopeless cause.

Ah well, greener grass and all that!

I agree I don't think he will last long... Peanut Mata'utia I never rated Holmes was a good player for Cas he loves the club and used to raise his game play better than he is almost not seen Minikin yet but I said at the time all three were shocking signings for the Warrington club and nothing I've seen as changed my mind

Looks like they are bringing in Thomas mikaele.

Warrington Wolves land NRL prop Thomas Mikaele .

Warrington Wolves are set to bolster their pack with the arrival of Wests Tigers prop Thomas Mikaele after the forward was released from his NRL contract. Mikaele, 24, is expected to be announced by the Wolves in the coming days in a deal that will see him remain at the club until the end of the 2024 season.
