One of the few bonuses of being 70+ is being able to say that we saw his whole career….

Same here.
Plus the added bonus of him being a good friend of me dads, Chuck used to pop up to see him now and again.
Will always be my favourite cas player.

We had two players from the middle of the sixties who even the Aussies rated two of the best in the world Mal Reily and Chuck Hardisty
The two of them combining in the 68 -69 final Mal throwing a opponent over his shoulder passing to Chuck to go under sticks is my favourite Cas try

rank outsiders that day Salford with big name signings Dixon ex Halifax was one of their enforcers kept out of the way of Reily that day relived the try a number of times

I don't remember much about the match I remember like it was yesterday the things around the match the shops in the town done up in black and amber favours... going down on the coach with me mam and dad singing songs ...after the match all the Cas people around London and I think it was that match bringing the Cup back and the players all on the roof of the old boys modern with the cup and the fans covering the playing fields

Great bloke, I was a Billy no mates playing golf on my own . Two blokes waiting on the next tee, and I am thinking get on with it, I am catching you up . When I got there it was chuck and his mate Bob. Chuck said don't be playing on your own, join in with us. Best golf game I have ever had, playing with a bloke I revered, and could he hit that golf ball. Great bloke.

I still have two scrapbooks of that cup run, signed by the players, newspaper cuttings and photos.
One of the best photos is Carlton Street with the market clock showing 3pm on the Final Saturday, with nobody there!

Funny you should say that last time I was at my mum's she showed me some things she had found at the bottom of a draw one of them was a picture of Carlton St on the day of the match with no one on it
She also had a sheet of paper with a song on it made up for the final for people to sing on the bus Roll along Castleford forwards was the first line of the song ha
Yeah great memorys to look back on them days for me
