Man of Steel
Man of Steel
Just been looking at Sky's odds for next season Cust 8-1 Fav followed by Pearce 12-1 With Cas players having such a good record of winning it I always look out for our players
25-1 Macca
33-1 Trueman
40-1 Mamo
50-1 Evalds
66-1 DR
100-1 Westy
Truey and Evalds I think my few quid will go on ...

Re: Man of Steel
I always find the odds for MoS to be very strange.
The favourites are always new overseas signings (this year it’s Pearce and Cust), despite the fact that that it has been many, many years since a player from overseas has won it in their first season.
Then it tends to be players who were nowhere near winning it the season beforehand (this year its French, Williams and Sezer.
Surely from an odds point-of-view, the best bets are those who were on the shortlist last year, or who have won it recently. I’d be thinking the likes of Tomkins (last year’s best player), one of the other top 4 (Abdull, Lomax, Widdop, Connor) or the 2020 winner (Paul McShane).

Re: Man of Steel
I'd not heard of him from Manly to Wigan
I agree with Notts Abdul a fair shout

Wigan won’t even make top 6 for me.
Re: Man of Steel
I've a feeling westerman might be an outside chance. Think he'll be firing on all cylinders next year. Fingers crossed
Re: Man of Steel
I agree mate he was one of the better players in the comp last season should do even better back down lane

Yeah some strange odds, that been said I quite like Williams at 20/1. Powell could make a difference to his game.nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑11 Dec 2021, 10:55 I always find the odds for MoS to be very strange.

Re: Man of Steel
Evalds would be a good shout for me. I personally thought he had a good first season with us, but I know there's more to come from him. Not many win the Lance Todd in a losing side.
Re: Man of Steel
Shortlist for me would be:
William's 20/1
Tomkins 25/1
Abdull 28/1
Notice dream team and try scorers are out on sporting index too.
Quite like:
Try scorer
Fasitu 14/1
McIntosh 20/1 ew (would like slightly higher odds though)
(Cant believe Feki who's out for half the season at least is 22/1 ).
Dream team
FB Tomkins (13/2)
W McIntosh (20/1)
C Hopate (7/1)
P Napa (20/1)
BR Westerman (10/1)
William's 20/1
Tomkins 25/1
Abdull 28/1

Re: Man of Steel
They haven’t.
All players who were playing in SL prior to the introduction of the non-fed rule are exempt from it. Most have now retired, but he just seems to keep going.
Re: Man of Steel
But the rules shouldn’t apply to players who left the UK and returned after the current rules were implemented. TL went back to play for New Zealand Warriors for a few years and returned to Wigan after the current rules were in place. If you look at Wigan’s “non fed” players for every year since TL came back, he’s been on there….apart from next season. Go figure???nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑11 Dec 2021, 13:07They haven’t.

Re: Man of Steel
Can't see that cust doing owt watched him a few times and never done anything was 5th choice half for manly last season think if he stays fit mitch Pearce will win it still a top player at 32 and would still be at Newcastle if catalan hadn't of offered him a fortune and 3 Yr deal and would still be doing a good job in nrl

Re: Man of Steel
Not saying I agree with it, but he’s not the first. Sam Moa didn’t count when he played for Catalans because he played for Hull years beforehand.Fumper27 wrote: ↑11 Dec 2021, 15:35But the rules shouldn’t apply to players who left the UK and returned after the current rules were implemented. Re: Man of Steel
Don't know what luke Gale is but he'd be worth a shout playing behind hulls pack. Think he's what hull have been missing, he's twice the player of sneyd if he can stay fit
Re: Man of Steel
Can't believe Welsby is 5-4 to be dream team full-back and Tompkins is 10-1 I know who id rarther have as my no 1 before a ball is kickedKB80 wrote: ↑11 Dec 2021, 12:26 Shortlist for me would be:
