not 100% as its some time ago. when wakey borrowed £3.2 million from WMDC i think there was an agreement to just pay the interest until they got the yorkcourt cash at which time they would pay it back in full. apologies if i'm wrong jinj.

Re: Wheldon Road
Castleford Tigers have confirmed that they are in discussions with Wakefield Council and the owners of the Junction 32 site about the possibility of staying at a revamped Wheldon Road rather than relocating to a proposed new stadium at Junction 32 of the M62 near Glasshoughton.
On Friday, Wakefield Council announced its intention to give up to £2million to Castleford Tigers as part of a new Rugby League Resilience Fund to invest in their current stadium and improve community use. This would coincide with the Axiom scheme at Junction 32 being refocused away from retail and leisure uses, with a high-quality employment and commercial development being proposed in its place.
Castleford Tigers would use this investment to help towards funding a major redevelopment of Wheldon Road to bring the club’s famous home up to modern standards. Subject to securing the investment necessary, key elements of the club’s proposals would be to demolish and rebuild a new Main Stand, and modernise the existing Princess Street Stand, Railway End and Wheldon Road End.
A rich mix of new facilities, including food and drink outlets and hospitality suites would enhance the matchday experience for fans, while new conference facilities and meeting rooms would boost non-matchday income, and enable the club to further enhance its work within the community.

Re: Wheldon Road
So, basically, everyone is looking to secure a 'Newmarket' type deal with the company behind Axiom looking to pay a fraction of the reputed £12m stadium build costs with a much reduced share to Cas to help fund the redevelopment.
I'll says thank you but I also ask Cas to give us an indication whether they've got an idea of the costs or even a design for what they want to do?

Cas will have designs already in place. I’m guessing once the money has been confirmed the design will be published to us and work will commence.FIat Capper wrote: ↑23 Nov 2021, 14:34 So, basically, everyone is looking to secure a 'Newmarket' type deal with the company behind Axiom looking to pay a fraction of the reputed £12m stadium build costs with a much reduced share to Cas to help fund the redevelopment.

Called it earlier in the thread. Now the fun starts and we have to fight for the very best deal possible.
Re: Wheldon Road
How much extra could we get then I didn't think it would be anything like what's been planned for ...

Re: Wheldon Road

Re: Wheldon Road
So will planning permission be needed, if so, that could take an age to go through.
Plans have to be drawn up on what the stadium could look like.
Employing an architect will cost a few £££’s.
Could still be years away before we see a spade dug.

Re: Wheldon Road
Realistically how much can be improved without flipping the pitch and maybe removing the training pitch? The princess street end is limited in space and a new larger stand would tower over existing housing which could cause planning issues. WR is butted up to the road pretty much already - can't exactly take any more meters off of our pitch.
