Re: Feki
By season's end, every player in a squad has got a knock, bump or swelling somewhere on their body. The majority have get through to this stage with simple recovery techniques but a few may have injections to get through the pain. Some unfortunate souls will have had season's ending injuries as well such as a ruptured achilles, which you just cannot hide.
So, it would be easy to say 'X' player is injured as they probably are to a minor degree but no fan on here could ever rely on predicting which ones will get the worst case scenario.

Re: Feki
if at last the lad is declared FIT after over two years out of the game it will be a big ask to return to his AUS form

Re: Feki
I've just listened to a podcast about Adam Forshaw at Leeds United. He made his start for over 2 years last week. What started out was a possible strain and rest should fix it, led to teeth being removed and then a hip replacement or similar. Then he got a variety of minor injuries during his comeback. He's now fully fit, in fact Bielsa fit, which is another level.
There were only a few mutings of pay him off and get rid but most were of the view that he was injured during football and so should be allowed to get fit and try again.
I know there's a lot more money in football but shouldn't we work to a similar principle? Just s thought.

Re: Feki
Can someone clear something up for me?
Are we paying Feki? If not who is?
I have seen posters say that he is it exempt, but I think this only applies to the salary cap not to his actual wages?

Re: Feki
We are paying Feki, he’s a contracted player at our club. Posters suggesting that insurance pays players wages when they are injured is nonsense.Casforthecup wrote: ↑14 Nov 2021, 14:40 Can someone clear something up for me?

Then what's the point having player insurance if it doesn't pay out ?sirocco7 wrote: ↑14 Nov 2021, 16:51We are paying Feki, he’s a contracted player at our club. Re: Feki
just think what the insurance would be when we renew if they have been paying Fekis wages over the last two years
Re: Feki
We are probably already paying the price Gateman, he’s been with us 2 years and I would guess our insurance cost would have been reviewed in that time.
The words Sosaia Feki is to player insurance what subsidence and flood are to buildings insurance I would imagine
Re: Feki
The insurance is for medical expenses and a payout if the player is forced to retire due to injury.westerbeast73 wrote: ↑14 Nov 2021, 17:58Then what's the point having player insurance if it doesn't pay out ?sirocco7 wrote: ↑14 Nov 2021, 16:51We are paying Feki, he’s a contracted player at our club. Re: Feki
I’m no expert but I’d say yes … the insurance will only kick in for a lump sum payout to the player if they have a career ending injury.westerbeast73 wrote: ↑14 Nov 2021, 20:58So Cas have been paying his wages for the last 2 Years then?sirocco7 wrote: ↑14 Nov 2021, 19:37The insurance is for medical expenses and a payout if the player is forced to retire due to injury.westerbeast73 wrote: ↑14 Nov 2021, 17:58Then what's the point having player insurance if it doesn't pay out ?sirocco7 wrote: ↑14 Nov 2021, 16:51We are paying Feki, he’s a contracted player at our club. Re: Feki
Legally players have to be insured from amateurs at junior level to professionals at Super League level.
And before you ask how I know this? It's because I was an administrator for many years at several clubs.

Re: Feki
Yes, they do have to be insured - I played both codes and had insurance from U11’s right through to when I hung the boots up due to a back injury. The question is though, what level of insurance do our players have? You’ve only gotta look at Mosoe Masoi to realise his insurance was inadequate - him and his wife said in an interview that they didn’t realise what it didn’t cover and they were struggling. Do Cas insure bare minimum just to satisfy legalities?
Re: Feki
But the players has to pay for there own insurance. BARLA used to insure the amateur game but that stopped in the early 2000’s.

Re: Feki
I know from an old work colleague who played pro that in the days of old, when players had other jobs outside of their RL career, the insurance covered the loss of earnings for the 'other' job but not the 'hobby' of playing pro RL.
If you take this one step further into full-time pro RL, I would imagine the cost of insuring all earning losses would be significantly more than the salary itself.
In the same vein, if a player is contracted to a club, the club has a responsibility to pay the employee.

Re: Feki
Every amateur club is required to have an annual insurance policy which is renewed each year through the RFL the same as it was through BARLA. This is insurance is effectively public liabilities insurance for the club. It is not in any way personal injury insurance for the players, if a player wants this they need to get it themselves and pay for it themselves, the level of cost of the personal cover is directly linked to the level of injury and pay out you receive.TT Tiger wrote: ↑15 Nov 2021, 08:05

So basically if you get injured playing amateur RL and miss work etc. There is no way you can claim this back through your clubs insurance, you would need to have your own personal injury insurance to cover that.
