Re: McLelland announced
I wonder why he left leeds.
According to agar, he was offered another contract there.

Re: McLelland announced
Like all half backs, he needs game-time that he hasn’t been given. He’s 22 but only played about 20 games of open age rugby.
I’d be tempted to give him a year at Featherstone to build his experience of game management (assuming we keep Trueman, Richardson and O’Brien) and then bring him back in for 2023. He won’t fulfil his potential playing a handful of games every year.

I suspect he fancies his chances of getting picked over one of Trueman/Richardson/O’Brien more than he fancies his chances of getting picked over one of Sezer/Gale/Austin.old cas lass wrote: ↑12 Oct 2021, 10:07 I wonder why he left leeds.

Re: McLelland announced
If gale is panicking over not being first choice next year, then McClelland wouldn't get a look in. Whereas at Cas and rekindling the combination with truey, it makes sense.old cas lass wrote: ↑12 Oct 2021, 10:07 I wonder why he left leeds.

Re: McLelland announced
Pretty chuffed with this, think we'll see Richardson moving on during this season and Mclelland partnering Truey by the end of the season.
Also the question of what happens to Truey at the end of this season if he wont sign on again.
Think this could be a shrewd move, from what Ive seen of him I rate this kid.

Re: McLelland announced
2017 when he and Trueman played together Mc Lelland was awarded the EX players end of years young player of the year award
Re: McLelland announced
A bit of a gamble but one worth taking. His defence will be an improvement on Richardson's and he has not really had a chance at Leeds. The reason he has hardly played is because he has spent most of the season injured. Lets hope he can have a clear run.

Re: McLelland announced
The thing is that most clubs are playing to the same salary cap, and those who can afford marquee players look to have them signed up for beyond next season.westyorkylad wrote: ↑12 Oct 2021, 12:12 Pretty chuffed with this, think we'll see Richardson moving on during this season and Mclelland partnering Truey by the end of the season.

I guess Trueman will be wherever offers him the most money, as most would.
In Cas' position, I'd be offering him a new deal with a deadline of May to sign it, or we look elsewhere. He might get a better offer on the open market come May, but he might not.
Re: McLelland announced
Does anyone know what is injury is and how long he is going to be out
Re: McLelland announced
Ruptured a patella tendon against Wakey on August 30th, initial assessment from an Agar interview he gave in Mid-september was six months. Not seen anything more recent than that.

Re: McLelland announced
Supposed to be fit around 5 months from now then (mid March) but often the problem with long term injuries aren't just the injury itself but the after effect of 6 month out of the sport. Seems a gamble to me and on a very much unproven player, it's not one I'd have taken in all honesty

No, not at first, but with our injury record, they will get the chance. Then it's there's to keep or not. I like the options though.old cas lass wrote: ↑12 Oct 2021, 10:33So you reckon out starting 2 will be trueman and McClellandmart0042 wrote: ↑12 Oct 2021, 10:14If gale is panicking over not being first choice next year, then McClelland wouldn't get a look in. Re: McLelland announced
Am certain your right with that . Cas were pretty upset that he went , he and Trueman were seen as the up and coming halfbacks of the future ! I just hope his time away hasn't stunted his development or Cas can bring him back to what his potential looked like at the age of 16- 17 . Fingers crossed for the lad ...
Re: McLelland announced
O'brien and truey have to be the starting 6 n 7 but as we have seen they are injury prone so there will be plenty of chance for richardson n mcllenend to stake a claim for a place
