Minikin to Wire

Post by orrsome » 02 Sep 2021, 18:38

Warrington Wolves are on the verge of signing Hull Kingston Rovers' Greg Minikin.
Terms have been agreed in a move that will see the 26-year-old reunite with former coach Daryl Powell at the Halliwell Jones Stadium next season.

It appears that DP rates him,

Bet that's gone down like a lead balloon in Warrington
I've always liked him apart from that first half of the season he had when he left to go to HKR

strange one with greg. we signed him as a center and he did very well there when shenny was out injured for the season. when shenny came back greg had a great season on the wing but insisted he wanted to play center. he left cas but has continued to play on the wing with a good strike record. maybe he would have been better staying at cas.

Not really surprised. He’s looked good this season, he’s also bulked up.

Looking forward to Powell putting his square pegs in round holes at wire, but the cheque book might save him there.

Makes no sense really. They've Charnley, Thewliss and Ashton as wingers at the club. I can't imagine he'd be leaving a starting spot at KR to play 3rd or 4th fiddle, he certainly won't get in at centre over King and Mata'utia. A strange signing, unless Charnley is leaving and Powell doesn't rate Thewliss, or Ashton who IMO will be good wingers.

Powell doesn't like playing the kids we've seen that firsthand a backline like this doesn't look to bad. With the young lads as cover

Baffling signing - unless he's going to be a late bloomer I can't see the logic.

My current wife will tell you that I don't know much about anything though..... 😳

The thing with an ACL injury is, you know somethings wrong, but the pain isn't always immediate, I did mine whilst playing and carried on for 10 minutes, not knowing the damage. Was only an hour later that it really hit.

More of a recruitment injury curse that he certainly had over the years with us, Feki being his star pupil.
