A headline I never thought I'd see on the this forum....

He sets the tone for not giving in to advancing years....

Many happy returns Neil.

Was driving down WR yesterday afternoon and just before I got to the ground, Sweet Caroline came on. Hopefully an omen to better times ahead!

Not surprisingly I've been barred from doing it on the karaoke at a certain hostelry in Fev but I enjoy doing it where ever I'm allowed.

Anyway, belated Happy B to Mr D.

I’ve always liked Neil Diamond and especially Sweet Caroline. The first lines ‘where it began’ are so appropriate fitting into the rebirth of Cas Tigers under Darryl Powell. When my wife died 11 years ago, at her funeral I had the opening words of the late Dave Whitfield played “When you lose the one you love, how lonely life can be,, those loving souvenirs can only bring you tears when you lose the one you love”. Those words have always given me comfort even though I doubt that anyone remembers David Whitfield today who was a Yorkshireman born in Hull.
I once tried to rewrite Sweet Caroline with the words Great Castleford which of course they are, but it didn’t quite fit. Nevertheless from one octogenarian to another, happy birthday Neil.

Just shows how powerful some words can be when put together in a song, poem, or a sentence or two, and how they can bring comfort to someone. Take care Ken.
