we look stronger this year but other teams do I will be happy if we finish above the sixth position, L am really looking foreward to the start of the season even if we start with no spectators anything is better than nothing

If and it’s a big if we get back playing our home games at home and not at rhinos every week I’d say 3rd if not probably 7th.
So on the basis we do play at home.

Improved our squad this year and having a poor season last year will definitely give us a fire in our belly to make the play offs. If we can get back home and get our crowd back I don’t see why we can’t go all the way.

Much depends on luck and injuries (as always) and with Covid thrown into the mix, so I’m going to make a rough prediction:

Saints and Wigan will be the top two, but could be in either order. I’d go:
1. St Helens
2. Wigan

There are a group of teams who will all finish anywhere between 3rd and 8th: Cas, Warrington, Hull FC, Leeds, Catalans and Huddersfield. I’m going for:
3. Cas
4. Catalans
5. Warrington.
6. Leeds
7. Hull FC.
8. Huddersfield.
But I wouldn’t be surprised to see those teams in any order,

Then the three teams I don’t think will make the top 8: Wakefield, Hull KR and Salford. I’m thinking:
9. Salford
10. Wakefield
11. Hull KR.
But again, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them in any order.

Then Leigh.

Grand Final winners: Cas.
Challenge Cup: Huddersfield.
Man of Steel: Bateman.
Top try-scorer (league only) - Niall Evalds.

Are they re-introducing scrums this season? IMO this had a massively negative impact on our style of play.

With scrums, top 4. Without scrums, 6th or 7th.

As long as they decide what there going to do before the season starts and stick to it
Some clubs shamefully tried to use the percentage system to benefit themselves if they decide how the season is going to look and try there best to stick to that then at least the competion won't lose integrity

I would say Saints or Wigan top 2; Cas, Leeds, Hull, Warrington, Catalan, Hudds 3rd to 8th in any order, dependent on form, injuries; Wakey, Salford, HKR 9th to 11th in any order but if Leigh can pick up wins against so called 'lower' teams, might avoid the wooden spoon.
Grand Final Winner:- Saints
CC Winner:- Cas
M.O.S.:- Bateman (would love a Cas player to win it just to see the sour grapes again)
Top try scorer:- an injury free Feki.

Garry Schofield doesn't fancy our chances this season.
9 CASTLEFORD TIGERS

Regular readers of my column will know I’m a big Daryl Powell fan, and few would dispute what a terrific job he’s done down Wheldon Road.
But can a coach be at a club for too long? Perhaps!

Having made the Grand Final in 2017, Castleford needed to build on that fine achievement, but we all know how things unfolded, and they seem to have had a bit of a hangover ever since.

Like neighbours Wakefield, they were quite badly impacted by Covid last season, but even allowing for that, an eighth-placed finish wasn’t what we’ve come to expect from one of Daryl’s teams.

I’m not totally convinced by their recruitment so far, and I don’t think having a director of rugby has helped them.
That’s not a dig at Jon Wells, more a question about the value of the role. If it has added something to the mix, it’s not evident by their achievements out on the pitch.

I agree with some of what he says but you would have to ignore all Powell as done since hes been at the club (Sometimes with a lot weaker squad than he's got now ) to say we will finish 9th

Any guesses at what the 17 will be? 3 needs to go into 2 for our wingers with Eden, Feki and Olpherts

I agree with a chunk of what has been said, we could conceivably finish anywhere from 3rd to 9th.

I am not bothered about predictions or emotional about people's opinions - what I am slightly disappointed at is that we've gone back to potentially being a surprise package again from mid-field and not cemented the elevation. They're easy words to write of course and a lot harder to achieve.
