Re: Greg Minikin
Minikin has been given the number 3 shirt at Hull kr which is the reason he left Cas. Wanted to play at centre not on the wing.

Re: Greg Minikin
He wore 3 at Cas in 2019, but it didn’t make him a good centre. He got his opportunity to play there when Webster left, but he didn’t take it. He was very poor defensively in that position and didn’t offer much in attack either.westerbeast73 wrote: ↑09 Jan 2021, 10:34 Minikin has been given the number 3 shirt at Hull kr which is the reason he left Cas. Whilst he has been given the number 3 shirt, I dint think it will be long before they go back to Shaun Kenny-Dowall and Kane Linnett in the centres.

Didnt exactly help him playing in the Cas team 2019 did it. They weren't exactly on fire that Year by any means.nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑09 Jan 2021, 10:54He wore 3 at Cas in 2019, but it didn’t make him a good centre. Re: Greg Minikin
Very true. And he never really got a consistent partnership with a winger (mostly Clare who is poor defensively) or a back-rower (McMeeken was out a lot).westerbeast73 wrote: ↑09 Jan 2021, 11:12Didnt exactly help him playing in the Cas team 2019 did it. But that doesn’t excuse missed one-on-one tackles. Ive never thought he is big enough to be a centre or reads the game well enough to make up for his lack of size.
I could be wrong though. But if he was poor in a 2019 Cas team that made it to the play-offs, I’m not sure how he’ll be better in a Hull KR team that will be nowhere near as good.

If you have a look at the dates of the posts you'll see that the bulk of the thread is from 4 years ago.
The 3 or 4 recent posts contain healthy & structured debate.
HNY all the same though......

Might be our problem when we play Hull kr and he out plays Shenton. Time will tell though.bane73 wrote: ↑11 Jan 2021, 11:40Tbh couldn't give a monkey's about him, he's another team problem not ours.westerbeast73 wrote: ↑10 Jan 2021, 11:12Would you rather I started a totally new thread on Minikin or just add to an existing one ](*,)
Re: Greg Minikin
I doubt he'd give Shenny any problems in centre, in fact, I doubt he'd cause anyone any problem in the centre position. He's OK on the wing n that's about it imo.westerbeast73 wrote: ↑11 Jan 2021, 13:24Might be our problem when we play Hull kr and he out plays Shenton. Re: Greg Minikin
He came to Cas with rave reviews from many
"Experts" in the game. He was that good that he apparently "ended the careers" of some experienced Championship centres
If only ever saw that in rare flashes in his time with us. I also thought he often appeared to have confidence issues - even looking a bit bewildered by what was going on around him.
Time will tell if he is capable of delivering his early potential.

You must have been watching a different Shenton to me last season. He was shocking in both attack and defence.bane73 wrote: ↑13 Jan 2021, 15:04I doubt he'd give Shenny any problems in centre, in fact, I doubt he'd cause anyone any problem in the centre position. Re: Greg Minikin
Even with Shenny in a wheel chair minikin would struggle against him, and, that's not a glowing review of Shenton it's how poor minikin is at centre.westerbeast73 wrote: ↑13 Jan 2021, 20:28You must have been watching a different Shenton to me last season. Re: Greg Minikin
I agree I think he could still make a decent centre
In 2019 him and Clare on that right side were as bad as anything you'll see in super league as a winger centre combo ...Will be interesting to see if he makes a better fist of it when season starts

Re: Greg Minikin
What?!
But Powell was happy to let him leave Cas. Yet signs him for Wire.
Imagine their fans won't be happy.
